With a second round 64 and her low round of the year, Lexi Thompson takes a one-stroke lead midway through round two of the Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft. Thompson was 6-under par through her first eight holes and added one more birdie at the back nine’s par 4, 15^th hole.

“I wanted to make more birdies on the back nine,” said Thompson. “I hit it in the rough on a few holes on the back nine that I needed to hit into the fairway to be able to make birdies. But I'm very happy with my round, don't get me wrong.”

Scoring conditions Friday morning were ideal for scoring, similar to what the first round leaders experienced, shooting 64’s Thursday to take the lead at 7-under par. Thompson carded a 2-under par, 69 in the afternoon playing of round one.

“Playing in the morning without the wind and the greens are a little bit softer in the morning, so it’s easier to just control the way your irons are going to bounce out onto the greens,” said Thompson. “So it’s a lot easier to control than yesterday in the afternoon.”

Thompson currently leads Wei-Ling Hsu, who carded four birdies on her front nine to shoot 2-under 69 to get to 8-under par. Dori Carter just began her second round, she is also at 8-under par and currently 1-under through four holes.
