ROGERS – Today, it just wasn’t meant to be for Stacy Lewis.

The former Razorback arrived at the par 3, 17^th to overwhelming applause and the hog call that so often is heard when Lewis is making her way around Pinnacle Country Club during the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G.

Lewis held a one shot lead on the tee and trailed by one when she walked off the green.

Behind her, 36-hole leader Na Yeon Choi holed her approach from the fairway at the par 4, 16^th hole for eagle to jump out to a one-stroke lead. Cheers at the 16^th hole were drown out by the fans’ overwhelming love for Lewis on the green at 17.

She was completely unaware of what was happening behind her.

“I didn't know she holed out on 16 until just now,” Lewis said behind the 18^th green Sunday. “I knew I was a couple behind. I heard someone in the crowd say she needs eagle so I knew I needed to do something there.”

There being the par 5, 18^th hole where Lewis found the greenside bunker with her approach. She needed eagle from the sand to tie Choi, who followed up her eagle at 16 with a birdie on 17. Lewis made bogey to finish three behind Choi. This week marks her fifth top-3 finish of the year.

“It's tough, but honestly it's been a few weeks since I've been in this position and few months really so you know you can't be too upset,” Lewis said. “When somebody holes out and makes birdie on 16 and 17, you know, it's one of those things that it's kind of meant to be for her.”

Despite a few missed putts coming down the stretch Sunday, Lewis played well this week in front of her hometown fans and hopes to build on that momentum as she continues to search for her first win of the season. She will have the upcoming week off before teeing it up at the third major championship of the year, the U.S. Women’s Open in two weeks. She finished runner-up last year.

“I played some great golf this week and it's coming around at the right time,” said Lewis. “I know what I need to work on for the U.S. Open. I know kind of what happened when the pressure was on, came up and out of putts a little bit. So I'm going to work on that, on the golf swing but I really like where everything is right now.”

Maybe that one is meant to be for Lewis.
