Alexandria Jacobsen and Cheyenne Woods to play in the inaugural tournament

OCALA, Fla. (January 13, 2015) — The Coates Golf Championship presented by R+L Carriers announced Alexandria Jacobsen and Cheyenne Woods as the two sponsor exemptions for the 2015 tournament, taking place January 28-31 at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club in Ocala, Fla.

“We are excited to invite two up and coming female golfers to join our field at the Coates Golf Championship presented by R+L Carriers in just a few weeks,” said Lenny Francoeur, Tournament Director. “Both Alexandria and Cheyenne show promising futures in the game of golf and we are looking forward to watching them tee off at Golden Ocala.”

Alexandria Jacobsen started playing golf at just 7 years old. Studying Sports Management at Stetson University, she joined the Epson Tour after graduating in 2012. During her time at Stetson, Jacobsen recorded nine wins in collegiate competition. The 24-year-old competed in the 2009 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship and was named 2010 Freshman of the Year. Since her 2012 Epson debut, Jacobsen has played over 25 events with a best finish of T14 at Daytona Beach Invitational. Most recently, Jacobsen began an endorsement with Coates Golf. “I’m excited to be able to represent Coates Golf, a fabulous brand backed by great people, while competing in my first LPGA event,” said Jacobsen. “With getting married only 12 days ago, January has already been a whirlwind but I can’t wait to see how the rest of 2015 goes.”

Known to most as Tiger Woods’ niece, 2014 was a memorable year for Cheyenne Woods. The 24-year-old opened her season by winning the 2014 RACV Volvik Ladies Masters on the Ladies European Tour and closed the year by earning her LPGA Tour card with a tie for 11th finish at the LPGA’s Final Qualifying Tournament. Woods was a two-time All-American and three-time All-ACC honoree at Wake Forest where she graduated with a communications degree in 2012. She also was the 2011 ACC Individual Champion and finished her career at Wake Forest with the lowest single-season and lowest career scoring average in school history.

Woods and Jacobsen will join the 120 player field at the Coates Golf Championship presented by R+L carriers for 72 holes of stroke play over four days of competition for a $1.5 million purse. Official tournament play will kick off Wednesday, January 28 and continue through Saturday, January 31 at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club. The tournament will serve as the launch pad for Coates Golf, a major new golf brand introduction that is based in Ocala. Additionally, it will showcase the Central Florida area as a great place to work, live and golf, as well as to give back to the community through charitable contributions.
