BOSTON, Feb. 3, 2015 – The Legends Tour, official senior tour of the LPGA, announces its 2015 tournament schedule today.
The tour for LPGA members age 45 and over will feature nine events in six states this year, with four tournaments to be staged in Florida. Competition begins in March and concludes in November.
“We are pleased to have nine confirmed events on this year’s schedule with a few more pending confirmations,” said Jane Blalock, Legends Tour CEO. “The strength of this year’s schedule is a reflection of the tour’s phenomenal growth and the continued support of great partners like Walgreens and French Lick Resort.”
The Legends Tour will kick off the year March 6-8, at the 4th annual Walgreens Charity Classic in Sun City West, Ariz., followed by the inaugural Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial April 13-19, in Ft. Myers, Fla., which will pair LPGA Legends alongside the young professionals of the Epson Tour.
“We are partnering with the LPGA Epson Tour to create a unique combined event with veteran and young professionals competing for separate purses,” added Blalock. “It’s a terrific opportunity for both tours and we are excited to showcase the legacy and future of women’s professional golf on one course and in one tournament.”
In June, the Legends Tour will hold an event in conjunction with college players at the 3rd annual Judson Collegiate & Legends Pro-Am, set for June 27-28, in Roswell, Ga. By late summer, the tour will travel to Jackson, Mich., for its longest-running event – the 15th annual Wendy’s Charity Classic, set for Aug. 9-10, followed by the 3rd annual Legends Championship Aug. 28-30, in French Lick, Ind.
The LPGA Legends Tour heads to Massachusetts on Sept. 17, for the 5th annual BJ’s Charity Pro-Am in Plymouth, Mass., before wrapping up the season with three events in the Sunshine State during November.
The first stop in Florida will be Nov. 5-7, at the 3rd annual Walgreens Charity Championship presented by The Seagate Country Club in Delray Beach. The tour will head to nearby West Palm Beach on Nov. 9, for the 2nd annual Legends Helping the Girls Pro-Am, before wrapping up the year at the season-ending ISPS Handa Cup, set for Nov. 12-14, in Sarasota.
“Securing a new home for our world-renown ISPS Handa Cup in the Sarasota-Bradenton area is especially gratifying, as this will be the 10th year for our international team competition,” added Blalock. “Golf fans get to see former Solheim Cup players and captains in action at this event this fall.”
Also, the LPGA Legends Tour announces the launch of its new website design. The new look of www.thelegendstour.com features a lighter appearance and color scheme, as well as more detailed information on tournaments, players, news updates and greater content variety with player bios, videos and fan interaction.
