Maria McBride resurfaced at last week’s Volunteers of America North Texas Shootout with an impactful finish.

McBride was known previously by her maiden name, Hjorth, when she won all four of her LPGA titles – the last in 2011 – and played on five European Solheim Cup teams. She recently revived her game by working with instructor David Leadbetter over the past year. The Leadbetter Academy is where her husband, former caddie turned instructor Shaun McBride, also teaches.

McBride’s final-round 65 at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas, included Sunday eagles on the par-5 third and 10^th holes, carrying her to a tie for fourth. She also led the eagle barrage, as 10 were recorded in the final round of the tournament. Combined with one Saturday eagle, there were 11 during the weekend in Texas, making the week’s donation $11,000. The season total amount of eagles is 93 and has now reached $93,000.

The Wounded Warrior Weekend takes place during the final two rounds at LPGA tournaments, with CME Group donating $1,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project for each eagle that is recorded. This amount will increase to $5,000 for each eagle during the weekend of the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship and a formal check will be presented to the Wounded Warrior Project during the trophy ceremony.
