Marcus Fraser, the first round leader after an opening 63, followed up with two-under-par 69 on day two to lead the field with a 10-under-par despite a few nerves and sits one shot ahead of Thomas Pieters.

“Always makes you feel those nerves, but I've done a really good job of controlling it over the last couple days,” explained Fraser. “Obviously having my best mate on my bag to have a chat to and laugh with and laugh at, it's been good fun. We're having a great time out there. He's taken the week off work to come over and caddie for me. It's a lot of fun out there with him.”

Fraser has proven over the past two days that he’s mastered the course, but isn’t getting complacent.

“Yeah, today felt so different from yesterday,” said Fraser. “I think that's a testament to how good the golf course is. It can feel so different the next day, and even though it was a similar wind direction, different pins and a few different tees and that kind of stuff, the course was set up perfectly.”

Pieters sits in a good position heading into the weekend and will be playing in the final group with Frasor and Henrik Stenson, all playing for gold.

“If you don't dream about it, you're never going to achieve it I think,” said Pieters. “I am thinking about it, yeah, but you kind of put that beside you when you're playing and try to shoot the lowest you can.”

Stenson adds excitement to the Olympic Games golf competition and represents a huge medal threat as one of the major champions in the field.

“There's a lot of golf still to play,” explained Stenson. “Of course, I've always said that I always prefer to be two ahead than two behind, but if you're not there at the halfway point, you've got more to make up for the next two rounds. But over 36 holes, if you're playing good, you can obviously make up quite a few shots. Yeah, I’m happy with the first two days.”
