South Korea’s Mi Jung Hur went bogey-free on Saturday to take a one-shot lead over Brooke Henderson at the Reignwood LPGA Classic after 54-holes of golf.
The two-time LPGA champion is looking for her first win since the 2014 Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic, and a victory seems near as her game has continued to trend upward in recent weeks. Hur’s 63 on Friday broke the tournament 18-hole scoring record set in 2013; this was also a personal best career score to par.
“For today I think my iron shot and putting doing well, but I miss two birdie opportunities in the front nine,” explained Hur.
Henderson, making her debut in China, played alongside Hur and Shanshan Feng, finds herself one shot off the lead in the third round and will be looking to pick up her third win this season.
“I think the winner tomorrow is going to shoot a really low score,” said Henderson. “I don't think anybody is going to run away with it necessarily. I think it'll be really tight right down until the end. So making lots of birdies and playing smart all the way around.”
Three players are tied for third at 17-under par including defending champion Mirim Lee, In-Kyung Kim and 2013 champion and crowd favorite Feng.
