BOSTON, June 9, 2016 – The Legends Tour has announced its two newest inductees into the Legends Hall of Fame.

LPGA Tour winners Elaine Crosby of Jackson, Mich., and Sandra Haynie of Fort Worth, Texas, will be inducted on Aug. 19, into the Legends Hall of Fame, a permanent exhibit featured at French Lick Resort, in French Lick, Ind. The induction will be held in conjunction with The Legends Championship presented by Old National Bank, Aug. 18-21, at French Lick Resort.

“The Legends Hall of Fame in the West Baden Springs Hotel honors the accomplishments of Legends Tour greats, and we are humbled by the fact that we can house this shrine to those top players,” said Dave Harner, director of golf operations at French Lick Resort.

Crosby, an active Legends Tour member, played on the LPGA Tour for more than 20 years, earning tournament victories at the 1989 Mazda Japan Classic and the 1994 Lady Keystone Open. In addition, she won a Futures Tour event (now Epson Tour) and has recorded one win and 21 top-10 finishes in 42 events on The Legends Tour.

Crosby has hosted an LPGA Legends event for 16 years (including a Legends Tour 18-hole professional tournament for seven of those years). Through this annual pro-am and in partnership with a Michigan Wendy’s franchisee, Crosby has helped raise more than $2.5 million of the $18 million raised by The Legends Tour since 2000 for charity partners. She also served as president of the Women’s Senior Golf Association Board – the governing body of The Legends Tour -- from 2008 to 2013.

“There are so many great Legends players that I am humbled I would be selected for this award,” said Crosby. “I have been blessed to play such an incredible game with the greatest players in golf, and not only to compete with them, but to call them my family. I’m also very grateful to French Lick for giving us such an incredible place to house the Legends Hall of Fame.”

Haynie joined the LPGA Tour in 1961 at age 18, and won her first professional title in 1962 at the Austin Civitan Open. She went on to win 42 LPGA tournaments, including four major championships, and finished in the top-10 on the money list every year from 1963-1975.

Haynie was the 1970 LPGA Player of the Year and was inducted into the LPGA and World Golf Halls of Fame in 1977. She also was inducted into the Texas Golf Hall of Fame in 1984 and the Women's Sports Foundation’s International Hall of Fame in 1999. Her last full season on the LPGA Tour was 1989.

On the Legends Tour, Haynie competed for the American side in four ISPS Handa Cup contests (2006-2009), a stretch in which Team USA never lost. She has played in 25 Legends tournaments, earning two top-10 finishes and most recently, competing alongside her peers in the Legends Honors Division (age 63+). Haynie has continued to teach and mentor young LPGA Tour professionals from around the world.

“Any time you are recognized for your career, it is very special,” said Haynie. “There’s nothing better than joining my friends of many years to celebrate our many years of doing what we love. I also thank French Lick for its support of the tournament, and for wanting to showcase the Legends players not just for one event, but for forever.”

Annual inductions include one active member of The Legends Tour who is still regularly competing in official Legends Tour events and one semi-retired Legends Tour member who has made a significant impact on the game during her LPGA and Legends Tour careers.

Haynie and Crosby will join Legends Tour Hall of Fame members JoAnne Carner and Rosie Jones (inducted in 2015), Nancy Lopez and Jane Blalock (inducted in 2014), and Jan Stephenson and Kathy Whitworth (inducted in 2013).
