For the world’s best players to add new equipment to their bag there’s one essential feeling they’re looking for.
A sense of comfort.
It’s the one quality both Gerina Piller and Alison Lee felt when testing out gear from one of the game’s newest club manufacturers, Parsons Extreme Golf, or PXG for short. Last week, PXG announced the addition of nine new PGA and LPGA professionals to their growing stable of players, including Lee, Piller, and Cristie Kerr. Sadena Parks and Beatriz Recari also play their clubs.
With just two weeks remaining in the 2015 season, Piller put the new irons and wedges in play at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational and results came quickly. Piller finished T-19 and topped that with a T-2 the following week at the season ending CME Group Tour Championship for her second runner up finish of the year.
“For me, if it’s clubs I love, it doesn’t take long,” Piller told LPGA.com via email. “I think it depends on the player and how long it normally takes them to become confident with them. For me it didn’t take long because they are such great clubs. I’m very impressed with them.”
Lee began testing out the new equipment months before adding them to her bag at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, where she finished T-15.
“I had tried them before, but was not ready to use them, especially with Solheim Cup on the agenda,” Lee wrote via email. “I spent a few hours testing them out and they immediately made an impression on me and they were awesome. They have a unique look and interesting marketing approach that caught my attention and I love it.”
Lee and Piller will kick off the 2016 season at the first event of the year, the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic, where Piller finished T-7 last season.
