South Africa native, Lee-Anne Pace, fires a first round 4-under and is off to a good start in the first major of the season. Everything seems to be clicking for Pace.
“I had a really good time,” said Pace. “I had a new caddie Johan from South Africa, and we've been friends for 15 years. Just really clicking out there. He started last week. But, yeah, put the ball in the right place and made a few putts.”
The greens were in perfect condition for the morning wave and only took Pace 27 putts to complete her round of 68.
Pace described greens as smooth, and the course as fantastic, "if you hit some good putts, they're definitely going to go in."
Despite loving this course, Pace has not had much success when playing the ANA Inspiration having finished T69 in 2015 and missing the cut in 2014. However today her love for the course was evident with her low round.
“I love this course. I've always felt like I can play really good out here,” she explained. “I spoke to my coach about it yesterday, I'm more ready for this major than ever before, and I think it's because I've played a little bit more golf at the beginning of the season and did a lot of off-season training.”
