Azahara Munoz is returning to her roots.
This week, the Arizona State University alumna returned to Tempe, Arizona to host the Azahara Munoz Championship. Munoz, who competed with the AJGA between 2002 and 2005, is hosting her first junior event with boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 19 competing in the 54-hole stroke play event.
“Such a great day yesterday back in my college town,” Munoz posted on Instagram. “So fun to see all the kids and it’s such a great feeling to have been able to be part of it. I would have never thought I would be able to have my own junior event.”
Munoz finished second at the 2005 Thunderbird International Junior and went on to capture the NCAA Individual Championship in 2008.
