PNC is proud to partner with the Ladies Professional Golf Association to celebrate family and recognize players for their achievements. The year-long campaigns featuring #PNCCelebrateFamily and #PNCAchiever will also include a series of events bringing female leaders and influencers together with LPGA leadership. PNC and the LPGA share common values that reflect a deep appreciation for family and a continuous pursuit of personal accomplishment.
Both LPGA players and fans have much for which to be grateful when looking back on the 2017 season.
It was a year that featured tight competition from start to finish with five different players taking over the No. 1 ranking; two Rolex First-Time Winners – Danielle Kang and Sung Hyun Park -- capturing inaugural LPGA victories, each at a major championship; and a Cup-keeping win by Team USA at the 2017 Solheim Cup, with the Americans topping Europe 16 ½ to 11 ½.
The 2017 season also showcased the LPGA’s continued global membership, with 22 different winners from eight different nations posting victories. Parity also became a recurring theme with 17 players earning $1 million or more, eclipsing the mark of 15 -- set in 2016 -- while Sung Hyun Park and So Yeon Ryu became the first players in LPGA history to share honors as co-Rolex Players of the Year.
Especially grateful for solid play in 2017 is Park, who joined LPGA Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez as the only players in tour history to win both Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors in the same season – a feat last accomplished by Lopez in 1978.
American golf fans also had plenty to cheer about in 2017. Top-ranked American Lexi Thompson won both the LPGA’s 2017 Vare Trophy for the season’s low-scoring average (69.114), as well as the $1 million bonus in the Race to CME Globe title. Thompson topped a record 12 LPGA players posting a season-long scoring average under 70 in 2017, which beat the mark of five players in 2016.
And finally, with tournament stops in 15 countries and 14 states, the LPGA is thankful for the many sponsors, volunteers, host cities and most of all, LPGA fans who supported 33 tournaments during the 2017 season.
Here are what a few LPGA Tour members are thankful for this year: .....
