Trying to predict who will win week-to-week on the LPGA Tour is like trying to predict the weather. Just when you think you’ve got it figured out, a new talent comes blowing on to the scene. That’s exactly what happened two weeks ago at the Ricoh Women’s British Open, where Georgia Hall thrilled the golfing world with her history-making victory. Hall, a rookie on Tour in 2018, won her first event and first major title at Royal Lytham & St Annes and became the first Englishwoman to win a major in 14 years. She showed few signs of her impending victory other than a single top 10 finish in July, her first of the 2018 season. That said, our experts dug through the stats, the results and the record books to help you identify which players to keep an eye on this week at the second playing of the Indy Women in Tech Championship Driven by Group 1001.
Ron Sirak's Picks
Minjee Lee - She's been playing well most of the year and was third here in 2017. Look for a strong effort from her.
Pornanong Phatlum - Let's see if her runner-up effort at the Ricoh Women's British Open was a springboard to bigger things. She feels like a player just coming into her own.
Lexi Thompson - She took some time off to recharge her batteries. Given all that's gone on in her life the last two years, that seems like a wise move. She comes back ready to roll.
Brooke Henderson - The Canadian likes to play with the pedal to the metal, so what better place than the home of the Indy 500 to make a run at the checkered flag.
Adam Stanley's Picks
Lexi Thompson - The defending champion publicly announced she was taking time away from the sport as she needed a mental break after a tough year or so. However, she’s the defending champion and is due for a win. No surprise if she defends this week.
Ariya Jutanugarn - The best in women’s golf is back again this week. With three wins on the year already (and 12 top-10’s) Jutanugarn should be considered a favorite every time she tees it up.
Minjee Lee - She has a win already this year alongside six top-5 finishes. When she plays well, she should be considered a threat to win. Finished third here a year ago.
So Yeon Ryu - Fresh off a third-place finish at the Women’s British Open, Ryu comes in rested and looking for her second win of the year. She has five top-10’s already.
Amy Rogers' Picks
Minjee Lee – The Aussie is trending towards her second win of the season with a top 10 finish in her last two starts. She has eight top 10s in 2018 and finished solo third in Indy last year thanks to a second round 66.
Moriya Jutanugarn – The Thai has kicked her game into another gear in 2018 with six top 10s and her first career win. She’ll be one to watch in Indy where she finished 10th last year after an opening round 65.
Lizette Salas – She’s played consistent all season long as she’s talked about getting closer to a win. Salas has eight top 20s in 2018 and could likely add another to her resume this week where she picked up a T5 in 2017.
Cristie Kerr – The veteran made a charge up the leaderboard in her last start at the Ricoh Women’s British Open with a 68 on Saturday. She finished T11 the week before in Scotland and will look to keep that momentum rolling this week in Indy where she also finished T11 last year.
