Gaby Lopez has missed four cuts in seven starts this year, but she may have turned a corner this week in Texas.
While she stumbled a bit on Sunday morning when she played her final seven holes of the tournament, she finished with a final round 70 and has a chance for her first top 10 of the season. She stands at 4-under after rounds of 68-70.
"I actually had a couple of bad breaks, I got in the bunker near the lip and had to chip out twice," explained Lopez, who made back-to-back bogeys on 17 and 18. "I enjoy being in contention and I know I can control myself emotionally so that is what I got from today's round."
Lopez started her final seven holes at 6-under on hole 12. She made a bogey on 13, but a birdie on 15 to return to 6-under. The trip up at the end will cost her a chance at an even better result.
The third-year professional could tally her third career top 10.
