LPGA winner Natalie Gulbis was one of six athletes nominated on Friday for President Donald Trump's council on Sports, Nutrition and Fitness. The other five are New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, former Yankees closer Mariano Rivera, former Yankees and Red Sox outfielder Johnny Damon, Olympic gold medalist wrestler Kyle Snyder and bobsledder Shauna Rohbock.
The President's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition encourages Americans to live a healthy lifestyle that balances physical activity and good nutrition. The council was founded in 1956.
Gulbis is playing this week at the Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic. She has played on the LPGA since 2002 and has 37 career top 10 finishes. She won the 2007 Evian Masters and played on the U.S. Solheim Cup team in 2005, 2007 and 2009.
