Update: The second round resumed on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. with no rain in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Williamsburg, Va. - The resumption of the second round of the Kingsmill Championship has been officially moved to Sunday due to an 1.2 inches of rain on Saturday that soaked an already saturated River Course at Kingsmill Resort. The second round was on schedule to start at 7:30 a.m., but an early morning storm system began to move in quickly bringing more rain to an already soaked River Course at the Kingsmill Resort.

Initially, officials notified players of a possible 8:30 a.m. restart, but the weather system developed and expanded over the River Course and delivered much more rain than expected.

Then, at approximately 8:30 a.m., officials notified the field that the second round would be delayed until 1:00 p.m. The River Course received an additional inch of rain on Saturday morning so the maintenance crew needs additional time to repair the course and move as much water as possible.

At quarter to 11:00 a.m., officials sent a notice saying the grounds staff has made great progress, but the the fairways remain saturated and they are monitoring another cell moving towards the area. Therefore, they are forced to delay until 2:00 p.m. Another notice will be sent at approximately noon.

Clubs

Just before noon, officials sent another note delaying the restart until 3:00 p.m. In the note, officials explained that a front is approaching and the course is at its saturation point. The next update will be at 1:00 p.m. and a determination will likely be made on if golf is played on Saturday.

At 1:00 p.m., officials called play for the day.
