Taylor Totland – an accomplished amateur and collegiate golfer and New Jersey native – will compete in her first LPGA event as a professional when she plays in this year’s ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer. Totland will receive the final sponsor exemption into the tournament, held June 4–10, 2018 at Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club.
Totland, a resident of Tinton Falls, was a NJSIAA state champion while at Red Bank Catholic and a two-time NJSGA Women’s Amateur champion, as well as Southern Conference Player of the Year, honorable mention All-American and Female Athlete of the Year at Furman University. She currently competes as a professional on the Epson Tour.
Totland will be joined in the field by Marina Alex, a native of Wayne, N.J. Alex is the only New Jersey native on the LPGA this year with full-time playing status.
“Taylor is a talented and hard working golfer and we’re excited to offer her an opportunity to compete against some of the best players in the world,” said Tim Erensen, Executive Director of the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer. “Our fans travel from every corner of the state and we’re excited they’ll be able to cheer on two Jersey natives.”
The complete field for the 2018 ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer is now final. This year’s field will feature past champions IK Kim, Anna Nordqvist, Stacy Lewis and Karrie Webb. The field will also feature five of the top ten ranked players including No. 2-ranked Shanshan Feng, as well as eight of the last 11 major winners including Pernilla Lindberg, Lydia Ko, Brooke Henderson and In Gee Chun. The 144-player field also includes fan favorites such as Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel, Natalie Gulbis, Suzann Pettersen and Christina Kim.
The field will also feature the professional debut of Leona and Lisa Maguire, Irish twins who are also competing on a sponsor exemption. Leona holds the record for the most weeks atop of the World Amateur rankings and Lisa is a former winner of the Great Britain and Ireland Women’s Order of Merit.
