Stacy Lewis won’t be defending her title at the Cambia Portland Classic in August. The mother-to-be played her final event of the 2018 season in mid-July at the Marathon Classic presented by Owens Corning and O-I ahead of the birth of her first child in November. But this week, she did make a trip back to Portland to drum up support for one of the longest running events on the LPGA’s schedule.
The two-time major champion took time to meet not only with the media, but to sample some of the treats for which Portland is most famous. At Voodoo Doughnut, Lewis enjoyed an enormous donut covered in pink icing, appropriate given she’s expecting a daughter. She also grabbed some ice cream at Salt & Straw, where they hand make their delicious creations.
Lewis won her 12th career victory on the LPGA Tour in Portland last August. At the start of the week, Lewis announced her intention to donate any winnings to the Hurricane Harvey relief effort to help her adopted home of Houston. The victory was a first for Lewis in three years on Tour.
