Bronte Law and Charley Hull Confirm Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open Appearance
North Berwick, 19 June, 2019 – British stars Bronte Law and Charley Hull confirm their return to the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club from the 8 – 11 August.
Law, who hails from Stockport but plays the majority of her golf on the LPGA having stayed stateside following her graduation from University of California in 2016, heads to Scotland for a third consecutive year but first as a major contender having finished T17 and T33 in the last two editions.
Currently ranked 24th in the Rolex Rankings, Law recently captured her maiden LPGA Tour title at the Pure Silk Championship and heads to East Lothian looking to impress Team Europe’s Solheim Cup captain Catriona Matthew, who will be finalising her team line-up on Monday 12th August. Law cannot qualify automatically but is eligible to receive one of four captain’s picks.
Speaking about her return, Bronte Law, said: “It’s great to play in front of a home crowd so any chance I get to play near to home and in front of my family, I’m going to take. I actually have some family in Scotland on my Mother’s side so it will be nice to have them there to cheer me on. Every event is important to me to try and make the Solheim Cup team so whilst this is the last event, I am just trying to play well every time I tee it up until the announcement is made and I’m hopefully selected to play for Team Europe.”
Joining her in the co-sanctioned event between the LPGA and Ladies European Tour and competing for $1.5 million and coveted trophy is 23-year-old Charley Hull.
Hull is well-known north of the English border having competed on Scottish soil on numerous occasions both as an amateur and a professional, with her best finish in the tournament coming in 2015, finishing in solo 8th place. A three-time worldwide winner and three-time Solheim Cup player, Hull heads to The Renaissance Club as the highest ranked Brit in the field (Rolex Ranking No. 20) and second highest in Europe.
Commenting on the tournament, Charley Hull said: “I always look forward to playing in Scotland because I enjoy having to shape my shots in the different conditions. You never quite know what the course is going to play like from one day to the next and I enjoy the challenge. The Renaissance Club sounds like a nice mix between a traditional links and an American style layout so I’m hoping it will be the perfect mix to suit my game.”
