Ssu-Chia Cheng- Up 55 spots to 306th in the world
Ssu-Chia Cheng recorded her first win on the Epson Tour at the Firekeepers Casino Hotel Championship last week, her first professional victory in nearly five years. Her last win prior to that was in 2014 on the LET at the Xiamen Open. The Chinese-Taipei native has four top 10s in her last six starts on the Epson Tour, moving her into third place in the Volvik Race for the Card with five events remaining. 306th is her best Rolex Women’s World Ranking since June of 2017.
Jeongeun Lee6- Up 2 spots to 5th in the world
Lee6 returns to her best career ranking of 5th place for the third time this season, after recording three top 10s in her last four starts. The end of the LPGA Tour’s European swing treated the Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year Race Leader well, as she secured her third second place finish of the season at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open.
Jin Young Ko, Jeongeun Lee6 Dominate Season-Long Race for LPGA Tour Awards
Scrolling down the LPGA Statistics page on LPGA.com, one finds Jin Young Ko’s face plastered everywhere. The leader of the Race to CME Globe, Official Money, Scoring Average, and Rolex Player of the Year awards is followed by Lee6, who heads the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year race. Lee6 sits in second place to Ko in three of those races and lies fourth in scoring average.
Ko took home the 2019 Rolex Annika Major Award, and Lee6 finished runner up. Both players are teeing it up at Manga Golf Club this week.
Solheim Cup Points
Team USA
The final countdown has arrived for Team USA, and just 72 holes separate the final three spots from being solidified before Juli Inkster announces her two captain’s picks. If nothing changes in the standings over the course of play in Canada, Brittany Altomare will lock up the final roster spot via Solheim Cup points. Angel Yin and Austin Ernst would take the two world rankings slots. Annie Park looks to play spoiler to Ernst, as she trails by one spot in the Rolex World Rankings, translating to a .01 difference in average points.
Closest to Altomare for the final automatic points slot is Ally McDonald, who needs to finish in 17th place or better to have a chance to pass her. Otherwise, the only players who can climb to 8th place are Cristie Kerr, Angel Yin, and Stacy Lewis, who all must win the tournament to have a chance to get in by points.
Juli Inkster, after the pan is sifted and the roster slots are finalized, will announce her two captain’s picks on Monday.
