Georgia Hall, Ariya Jutanugarn, Jeongeun Lee6- 10th Tee, 7:55 A.M.
Georgia Hall heads to Scotland after sitting in the top 10 through 36 holes at the AIG Women’s British Open. Hall has been in the two Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Opens that have been hosted by the LPGA Tour, finishing in T9 and T21 in her two previous appearances. Ariya Jutanugarn defends off narrowly missing her fourth consecutive top 10 finish at the final major on the LPGA calendar, finishing in 11th place. Jutanugarn went toe to toe with Minjee Lee on Sunday last year, carding a final round 66 to win by one stroke. Her career low at the tournament is a 65, which she carded in the second round at Gullne Golf Club last year. Jeongeun Lee6 makes the 17th start of her dominant rookie season, after posting her 7th top 10 finish at T9 in England last week.
Catriona Matthew, Mel Reid, Caroline Hedwall- 1st Tee, 1:04 P.M.
LET Solheim Cup captain Catriona Matthew will have 36 holes to get up close and personal with potential Solheim Cup players Mel Reid and Caroline Hedwall. Reid struggled to open the season, but after declaring at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship that she should be a captain’s pick, has picked up her play. She finished T37 at the Evian Championship and T41 at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, with a final opportunity to prove to Matthew she should be a captain’s pick. Reid’s last appearance was a T21 finish in Scotland last year. Caroline Hedwall sits in second place on the LET Solheim Cup points list, building off a T17 finish at the Evian Championship.
Charley Hull, Minjee Lee, Hyo-Joo Kim- 1st Tee, 1:15 P.M.
Charley Hull sits in the lead of the five players making the LET Solheim Cup team by Rolex Women’s World Ranking. It’s her third appearance at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open since it joined the LPGA Tour schedule, with her best round of 67 in the tournament happening during the first-round last year. Minjee Lee bounced back after her first missed cut in sixteen events with a T11 last week at the final major of the season. Over that stretch, she only finished outside the top 30 once, and there’s no reason to expect Lee to not stay inside that in Scotland this week, as she’s finished in the top 10 in her two career starts there. Along with finishing in second place last year, she finished in 8th in 2017. Hyo-Joo Kim has been incredibly consistent this year, finishing outside the top 10 last week for only the fourth time in 13 starts in 2019. She has an opportunity to take the lead in the Top 10 race, as neither Nelly Korda or Jin Young Ko, who sit tied with her with nine top 10s, are in the field this week.
Suzann Petersen, Anne van Dam, Celine Boutier- 10th Tee, 7:33 A.M.
The vice-captain will take a close look at two other potential LET Solheim Cup candidates, with Anne van Dam sitting in the final LET Solheim Cup Points position and Celine Boutier just outside the World’s Rankings List. It’s Petersen’s first appearance since returning to the LPGA Tour at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational after a one and a half year medical leave. Anne van Dam is building off her fourth consecutive made cut, which opened with her LPGA career best finish of T15 at the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic. The rookie is defending a nine LET Solheim Cup point advantage over Charley Hull. If Hull passes her this week, van Dam’s path to the team is through a captain’s pick.
