The three major winners of the 2019 season come together for the opening two rounds at the fourth major of the year. They are the current contenders for the Annika Major Award, as a player must win a major in order to take home the award.

Ko matched her lowest round of her career at the Evian Championship in her final 18 holes last year with a 68. She was scorching heading into her victory at the ANA Inspiration, only missing the top three one time in her five starts before the first major of the year. That run included her victory at the Founders Cup. Since Ko’s jump into Poppie’s Pond, she has remained consistent, finishing in the top 25 in all eight of her starts since. She recorded her third second place finish on the year at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational. If Ko continues her top 25 streak, she’d record her best finish at the Evian Championship. The four-time career winner posted a career best T26 at the Evian Resort last year.

Jeongeun Lee6 had finished in the top 15 in six of her opening eight starts of her rookie season before raising the U.S. Women’s Open trophy at the Country Club of Charleston. She followed up her victory with a second-place finish at the Shoprite LPGA Classic, and had her fifth top six finish at the Marathon Classic before taking last week off. Lee6 finished T6 in her first Evian Championship last year, featuring a second round 66. The Rolex Annika Major Award Leader would score another ten points if she repeats her performance from 2018.

Hannah Green makes her return after taking a month away from the LPGA to focus on increasing the consistency of her ball striking. She had posted three top 25 finishes before her first appearance in the winner’s circle in her career. Green missed the cut in her first appearance at the Evian Championship, carding a second round 69 to miss the cut by one shot.

Lee-Park-Thompson-Featured-Evian

Minjee Lee, Sung Hyun Park, Lexi Thompson- 1^stTee, 12:16 P.M.

The Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1, 3, and 4 form a dynamic trio in the first 36 holes at the Evian Championship.

Minjee Lee has been playing very steady golf since the middle of April, recording her victory at the HUGEL-AIR Premia LA Open and only finishing outside the top 20 one time in 10 starts. She formed the tandem with Jin Young Ko of Team Holy Ko-Lee that carded a 58 on Sunday in best ball in Midland to finish in second place. Lee is teeing it up for the 6^thtime at the Evian Championship, with her career best finish of T11 in 2015. Her best round at the Evian Resort Golf Club is a 67, which she carded in her second round of play in her debut at the tournament. Last year, she closed the tournament with three consecutive rounds in the 60s, her first-time carding three rounds at crooked numbers under par at the Evian Championship. She finished T16.

Sung Hyun Park returns as the number one golfer in the world for a second time at the Evian Championship. Last year, she missed the cut in her third appearance. The first two, she carded 63s in the opening round headed to a T2 finish in 2016 and a T26 result in 2017. She’s in the midst of her strongest play of the 2019 season, with a second-place finish, a victory, and a sixth place finish in her last three starts. Park took the last two weeks off, and rested in Korea.

Lexi Thompson, like Park, looks to rebound from a missed cut last year. Also like Park, she’s playing the best golf of the season coming into the fourth major of the year. Thompson has four second place finishes or better in her past six starts. Thompson has three top three finishes at the Evian Championship in nine career appearances, most recently her second-place finish in 2015. Thompson is currently in 4^thplace in the Rolex Annika Major Award with 42 points with her 3^rdplace finish at the ANA Inspiration and 2^ndplace finish at the U.S. Women’s Open.

Stanford-Nordqvist-Chun-Evian-Featured

Angela Stanford, Anna Nordqvist, In Gee Chun- 1^stTee, 12:05 P.M.

The 2018, 2017, and 2016 champions tee off together.

Angela Stanford defends a major for the first time in her career, making her 14^thcareer start at the Evian Championship. Stanford has consistently found success at the Evian Golf Resort, finishing in the top 10 38% of the time at the tournament. She’s been particularly consistent on Sunday, averaging just under 70 in the fourth round of the tournament. Her strong historical results at the Evian Championship give her an opportunity to move up in the Rolex World Rankings for a shot at the Solheim Cup, as she trails Annie Park by six spots.

The 2017 champion Anna Nordqvist is making her 11^thcareer appearance in Evian. On top of her playoff victory over Brittany Altomare, she’s finished in the top 10 two other times in 2012 and 2014. Nordqvist has made every single cut at the fourth major of the year. Nordqvist had her best finish of the 2019 season at the Shoprite LPGA Classic, when she finished in 4^thplace. Nordqvist is currently in the final Solheim Cup roster spot for Team Europe by Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, sitting 14 spots ahead of Celine Boutier.

In Gee Chun has four consecutive top 30 appearances heading into the Evian Championship, including a T6 with Lydia Ko at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational last week. It’s Chun’s 6^thappearance at the Evian Resort Golf Club, following up her 2016 victory with a T18 finish in 2017 and a T16 finish last season. She carded the second lowest round of her career in her victory in 2016, an opening round 63.

Boutier-Ryu-Lu-Featured-Groups

Celine Boutier, So Yeon Ryu, Yu Liu- 1^stTee, 1:00 P.M.

The final pairing on Sunday at the U.S. Women’s Open is joined by So Yeon Ryu.

The highest ranked Frenchwoman on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings leads the group, looking to enter the winner’s circle of the one major she’d pick to win. Boutier talked with LPGA.com about the lessons learned from her final round at the U.S. Women’s Open, as she comes into one of her favorite events. Boutier has played strong golf in her last two events, she finished T9 at the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic and T12 at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational alongside Karine Icher. It’s her fourth career start at the Evian Championship, with her best result her first in 2014, when she finished T29. She carded her best round at the Evian Resort Golf Club that year as well, closing with a final round 68.

So Yeon Ryu arrives at Evian playing strong golf in the previous two majors, with a T2 finish at the U.S. Women’s Open and a T10 finish at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. It’s her ninth appearance at the Evian Championship this week, with her best finish of T2 in 2016. Her lowest round in Evian is a 65, which she carded in 2012. Ryu finished T10 last year, in search of her third career major.

Yu Liu followed up her T5 finish at the U.S. Women’s Open with a T5 at the Shoprite LPGA Classic. The 2018 rookie had her career best finish at the Bank of Hope Founders Cup this season, where she finished T2. She returns to the Evian Championship for the 2^ndtime in her career, after missing the cut last season.
