In order to determine the 16 players for the LPGA Player of the Decade bracket, a range of criteria was developed. Here are the accomplishments considered:
- Number of Major Championships
- Number of Victories on Tour
- Rolex Player of the Year
- Vare Trophy
- Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year
- Rolex Annika Major Award
- Money Title
- Olympic Medal
- LPGA Tour Hall of Fame
- Team Appearances – Solheim Cup and UL International Crown
Points were allocated based on those achievements with players seeded accordingly. Click here for the complete list of how players were seeded for the bracket.
How Did We Get To Four?
Voting on the LPGA Player of the Decade bracket opened to fans and kicked off on Dec. 2, 2019. Fans voted across all of the LPGA’s social media platforms on matchups in the Kathy Whitworth, Annika Sorenstam, Mickey Wright and Louise Suggs brackets. Click here to view the bracket.
Dec. 17 the LPGA Player of the Decade Final Foursome was finalized with No. 1 Inbee Park advancing from the Kathy Whitworth bracket to face No. 4 Lydia Ko, who advanced in the Annika Sorenstam bracket. From the opposite side of the bracket, No. 2 Yani Tseng advanced from the Mickey Wright bracket, and No. 14 Brooke Henderson filled out the fourth and final spot in the LPGA Player of the Decade Final Foursome. Over the next two weeks, LPGA.com will shine a spotlight on the four players - Park, Ko, Tseng and Henderson - who qualified for the LPGA Player of the Decade Final Foursome, with feature stories and highlight videos of their careers. Voting will resume at noon Eastern Time on Jan. 1, 2020 and continue until noon Eastern Time on Jan. 3, 2020. Fan voting results on the LPGA Player of the Decade Final Foursome will be announced on Jan. 3 and voting on the final match up to name the LPGA Player of the Decade will get underway on Jan. 6. The winner, as voted on by the fans, will be revealed on Jan. 10.
