These scholarships are now exclusively available to LPGA Amateur members, their daughters and granddaughters
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., May 8, 2019 – The LPGA Amateur Golf Association has launched its "Women on Par" Scholarship Program for 2019, with two scholarships on offer this year, to provide financial assistance to "non-traditional" female students.
This scholarship program, offered through the LPGA Foundation, was established in 2007 by the EWGA Foundation (now the LPGA Amateur Golf Association). In an effort to give more opportunities to members and their families, the Women on Par Scholarship criteria have been modified slightly and will now be exclusively available to LPGA Amateur members, their daughters and granddaughters.
"The Women on Par Scholarship is a wonderful extension of the LPGA's new brand positioning and tag line – Drive On," said Jane Geddes, Executive Director of the LPGA Amateur Golf Association. "Drive On builds on the LPGA's history and heritage and is designed to show its commitment to diversity, inclusion, individuality and authenticity. It is about the power and potential in each individual and celebrates the hard work, focus, and tenacity that it takes to achieve our goals."
The "Women on Par" scholarships are intended for female students, aged 25 and older, who are attending a college or university for the first time or are returning to school after an absence to complete their technical/vocational, associate or bachelor's degree. The scholarships are designed to help these women get "on par", or gain an equal footing, with their peers, friends and other women who have had a chance to complete their college education.
Since its inception, the scholarship program has helped over 25 women realize their dreams. In 2019, two scholarships will be awarded: one worth $2,000 and the other worth $1,000. The 2019 Scholarship application committee will receive applications until 200 applications are received or May 31 of the application year – whichever occurs first.
