Four days after the last putt fell, the final numbers are in. And they confirm what everyone suspected. The Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions presented by Insurance Office of America was a huge television success.
The event at the Four Seasons Golf & Sport Club in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, which featured LPGA winners from 2019 and 2020 playing alongside celebrities from sports, television and film, has, over the last two seasons, been the most watched LPGA Tour season opener in 11 years.
An average of 306,000 viewers per minute turned in to Golf Channel and NBC over the four days of coverage. The event was seen by more than 4.25 million unique viewers making the 2018 and 2019 Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions the most watched season openers since the 2009 SBS Open at Turtle Bay.
The weekend telecast on NBC saw a significant jump with 587,000 viewers per minute tuning in and 821,000 viewers per minute watching the playoff between winner Gaby Lopez and Nasa Hataoka.
