On a day when the winds laid down and the brick-hard greens at the River Course at Kingsmill seemed a little more receptive, the round of the day belonged to Giulia Molinaro, a 30-year-old from Italy in her eighth year as an LPGA Tour professional, who shot 63 two hours before the leaders finished.
Molinaro had six birdies and an eagle, the latter coming at the par-4 12th, to reach 7-under par going into the final round of the Pure Silk Championship presented by Visit Williamsburg. She tees off on Sunday three shots out of the lead.
“I played such good golf tee to green that even though I was not making much from like Nos. 4 trough 10 or 11, I was still having a really good score. So, I just stayed patient, and when I made eagle on 12, that was a pretty good boost forward and putts started dropping after that.”
Molinaro won on the 2013 Friends of Mission Charity Classic on the Symtra Tour and has a career best tie for 8th at the Walmart NW Arkansas Classic presented by P&G in 2016.
