After back-to-back top-five finishes at the ANA Inspiration and LOTTE Championship, Rolex Rankings No. 3 Sei Young Kim is shooting for her 13th career win five months after clinching her 12th title at the 2020 Pelican Women's Championship presented by DEX Imaging and Konica Minolta. A victory wouldn’t be surprising given her track record at Wilshire Country Club, where she tied for second in 2019.
“It feels good because I had a good finish two years ago in L.A. and I have good memories,” said Kim. “It is always really good to play Wilshire Country Club, and the course is really great and in nice shape. I'm so excited to play this week.”
Some of the good memories of being in L.A. include the familiarity of being at home with Koreatown’s impressive resemblance of Seoul, Republic of Korea, which Kim said she misses tremendously. According to Kim, the best part about Koreatown is the food, which means something given the Tour is coming off the fine Hawaiian cuisine.
“Hawaii is my favorite location, because when you go there, you can see the beautiful views and the ocean. I went to the ocean and walked along the ocean. Then I had my favorite food, which is açai bowl. It was great and amazing,” said Kim. “It’s great to be back here in L.A. and with Koreatown nearby, I’m able to enjoy lots of good Korean food and especially the meat, which I like a lot.”
