Livestream of final round on Sunday, Aug. 29 to air in United States on golfchannel.com
FRENCH LICK, Ind. – The Senior LPGA Championship presented by Old National Bank returns to the Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort Aug. 27-29 with past champions Trish Johnson (2017) and Laura Davies (2018) headlining. World Golf Hall of Fame member and 31-time LPGA champion Juli Inkster also highlights the 78-player field which features 40 LPGA winners with 209 combined Tour wins, including a total of 27 major championships among 11 individuals.
A collection of all-time greats in the women’s game—current LPGA members, as well as LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame members—over the age of 45 will compete in a 54-hole, stroke play format for a purse of $700,000 with a $105,000 winner’s share. After 36 holes, a cut will be made to the top-45 players and ties. The Senior LPGA Championship is one of two majors on the senior women’s circuit, along with the U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship hosted by the USGA.
“When this championship was formed in 2016 then first played a year later, the vision was to give the ‘Legends of the LPGA’ a bigger platform to showcase their game and the rich history of the Tour,” said LPGA Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan. “The tournament annually attracts some of the LPGA Tour’s most celebrated stars, including current members Juli Inkster and Laura Davies, who comes to French Lick after playing the weekend in the AIG Women’s Open at Carnoustie. As we prepare for the historic Solheim Cup next week in Toledo, it is important to note that 18 players in the Senior LPGA Championship field competed for Team USA or Team Europe in their career, with 71 combined years of experience in the team event.”
On Sunday, Aug. 29, the final round of the Senior LPGA Championship presented by Old National Bank will stream live in the United States on golfchannel.com from 2-5 p.m. ET, while international viewers can watch on lpga.com. The broadcast team includes original Golf Channel announcer Brian Hammons, former LPGA Tour and Legends player Jane Crafter, and Golf Talk America host Frank Bassett. Behind the scenes, director Jack Graham, producer Jim Walton and executive director Lowell Thaler will produce all the final-round action in southern Indiana.
“We thoroughly enjoy hosting the ‘Legends of the LPGA’ and having the support of Golf Channel and the LPGA Tour,” said Dave Harner, the Director of Golf Operations at French Lick Resort. “The livestream will bring the caliber of play in the championship to fans around the world and give them a taste of the Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort. Every year, the LPGA has provided outstanding support in all respects to grow this event and give it the major feel the competitors deserve, and that continues here in 2021.”
Once again, Riley Children’s Foundation is the proud beneficiary of the Senior LPGA Championship. First- and second-round action begins from No. 1 and 10 tees, while players will head off No. 1 in threesomes for the final round. Tournament play opens at 9 a.m. ET all three days with a trophy presentation at the conclusion of the championship on No. 18 green.
