It would’ve been Korean American Andrea Lee’s second win in just 35 days if she had hoisted the BMW Ladies Championship trophy on Sunday in Wonju, Republic of Korea, but she just wasn’t able to match the round that champion Lydia Ko had going. Lee carded a bogey-free, 3-under 69 on the final day with birdies on holes 2, 15 and 18 to post at -17, finishing four shots back of Ko in solo second. It’s Lee’s fourth top five of the 2022 season and second top ten since she captured her first LPGA Tour title at the AmazingCre Portland Classic, and while it was a bit of a disappointing Sunday, she was still overall pleased with her effort all four rounds.
“Super happy with the way I played throughout the entire week,” said Lee, who also went bogey-free in both the first and second rounds with a pair of 6-under 66s. “Today wasn't my day, but another bogey-free round and had three birdies. So just really pleased with the way I've been playing lately.”
But the best part of Lee’s week was having the opportunity to play in front of her family, especially her 91-year-old grandfather, as it was the first time she’s ever teed it up in Korea. With 20 birdies and 3 bogeys throughout four rounds, she was able to give them a show as well, something she was incredibly proud of at day’s end, no matter the final result.
“It's been such a special week, honestly,” Lee said. “To be back in Korea after three, four years and to be able to actually play golf here and compete in front of them, it's been really fun and extremely special. I'm just really glad that I was able to cap off a good week.”
