After a challenging two weeks, Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist needed to unwind. “I was very frustrated with my putting both in Carlsbad and Chevron,” the reigning AIG Women’s Open champion said. “Basically, I think I had 34, 35, 36 putts the last three days, which wasn't the best.”
With an off week ahead of this week’s LOTTE Championship, Nordqvist headed west extra early for a few days of relaxation on the Big Island of Hawaii. “Food is good, obviously the scenery is really beautiful, and you can do as much as you want,” she said. “I have a 7 a.m. pro-am (Wednesday) so I can do whatever I want tomorrow afternoon, and I'm done just after lunch today. I feel like it's a good week to mix a little bit of vacation and work.”
But her early time in Hawaii wasn’t all play and no work. Nordqvist got in some one-on-one time with her short-game coach, PGA Tour winner Parker McLachlin. Between practice drills and putting on some clinics at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, Nordqvist feels like her game is rounding into shape.
“I feel like I've done a lot of good things. Just hasn't really paid off at all,” said Nordqvist. “So hopefully I can keep going in the right direction.”
