Before the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer, people told Brittany Lincicome that she should “shut it down,” stop playing golf. After all, the 36-year-old mom is seven months pregnant with her second child and hasn’t been playing as well as she would like. But after the ShopRite LPGA Classic, Lincicome is happy to still be competing and proving the nay-sayers wrong.
“Finishing (T6) while seven months pregnant, just being out here competing and being in contention, it means the world,” said Lincicome. “I haven't done that in a while. Just so many positives this week. Just so happy to play so well.”
Lincicome improved on her score every day during the three-round event (69-68-67) to finish the tournament -9 and tied for sixth with New Jersey native Marina Alex and major champion Nasa Hataoka. She looked to be in contention throughout the round, at one point matching the leaders at -10, but two bogeys on the back nine left her short. Though she didn’t earn her ninth career victory at this event, the 17-year LPGA Tour veteran left the course with a big smile, a growing baby bump and her young daughter Emery at her side. Following the ShopRite LPGA Classic, Lincicome hopes to ride her success into a few more events before the new addition to her family comes.
“To go and sit at home and not play, I feel like time is going to go by slower,” she laughed. “I was like, okay, I'm going to go play hopefully next week and through KPMG, and then go home and kind of get everything ready.”
