The wind has been a major factor this week at Hoakalei Country Club. With sustained speeds of 15-20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph, every player has admitted that they have been battling the conditions.
And perhaps no one hates it more than major champion Hinako Shibuno. Her response when asked about the wind? “Personally, I hate it.”
Of course, that comment was followed by the usual big Shibuno laugh, and yet another one-liner. “I want to be friends with the wind.”
Since Shibuno shocked the golf world with her win at the 2019 AIG Women’s Open, she has added four more JLPGA Tour wins to her resume. She finally earned her LPGA Tour Membership via the 2021 Q Series and has moved her sights to earning a second LPGA Tour title, this time an official win.
