The 40th major championship edition of The Chevron Championship was played at Mission Hills Country Club in California. Let’s look back at Jennifer Kupcho’s historic win.
Three times a charm
Kupcho made history on the final Sunday at Mission Hills Country Club by winning The Chevron Championship in her third attempt to become a major champion.
She leaned on her experiences from the previous two years of playing the Dinah Shore Tournament Course especially on the back nine into the closing holes.
“Once I got to the 15th fairway, two years ago I had the same exact front and pin number and holed it, so that's what I thought about, and that is what made me hit such a good shot into 15. Then I was able to just coast in,” said Kupcho.
The average time it takes to win The Chevron Championship for the first time is 4.6 attempts.

A putting clinic
“I have matured a lot in the last year, and even since I have been out here. I think my putting has gotten a lot better. I have been able to calm myself down a lot better,” said Kupcho.
Kupcho led the field in putting, averaging 1.60 putts per greens in regulation. During the second round, she hit nine consecutive fairways and greens which led to two birdies and her only bogey-free round of the major. It was her fourth bogey-free round in any major championship.
She is one of six players since 2008 to win majors while leading in putting average.
