SHIGA, JAPAN | The 50th edition of the TOTO Japan Classic is highlighted by a breadth of talent across both the LPGA and JLPGA. The limited field of 78 players will consist of 42 LPGA members competing with 36 of the JLPGA’s best. Japan boasts a myriad of rising stars in the game, all of which will be in attendance and on display this weekend.
The field is highlighted by the highest ranked Japanese player and 2018 champion, world No. 9 Nasa Hataoka, who will tee-off with Miyu Yamashita, currently No. 1 on the JLPGA’s money list and in the Mercedes Rankings. Major champions Hinako Shibuno and Yuka Saso are also in the field. Saso will play alongside Mao Saigo, the highest ranked JLPGA player at world No. 24. Olympic silver medalist Mone Inami and rookie Ayaka Furue, who became a Rolex First-Time Winner at the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open, round out a field chock full of Japanese talent.
Play will begin on Thursday.
