Jennifer Song carded the 27th hole-in-one of the 2024 LPGA Tour season on Wednesday during the first round of the LOTTE Championship presented by Hoakalei.

The 34-year-old dunked her tee shot on the par-3 15th hole from 126 yards with her 52-degree wedge. It’s the second ace that Song has made on the LPGA Tour this season, as the veteran also made a hole-in-one at the Ford Championship presented by KCC on the 160-yard, par-3 14th hole at Seville Golf and Country Club in Gilbert, Ariz.

Song had no idea that her tee shot on 15 had gone in until she got up to the green, ultimately being quite surprised to see her ball in the bottom of the cup considering how quiet the reaction was from those around the green.

“It was 127 to the flag. We had a little bit of right-to-left downwind, and I hit my 52-degree wedge,” said Song. “It looked like a good shot, but because the green was elevated, we had no idea. The reaction we got from the volunteer was just a simple, ‘Woo,’ so we thought, ‘Oh, it must be close.’

“My caddie handed me my putter, and as I'm walking up there, I'm like, ‘I only see two balls.’ I'm like, ‘Is that mine behind the flag?’ By that time, the volunteers were like, ‘Oh, it went in the hole.’ We were like, ‘Oh, nice.’ The worst reaction.”

Her ace at the LOTTE Championship is the fourth hole-in-one that Song has recorded on the LPGA Tour since she first became a member back in 2011. In addition to her hole-in-one this past March, Song also aced the par-3 7th hole at Jian Lake Blue Bay Golf Course in the first round of the Blue Bay LPGA in 2018 and holed out on the par-3 4th hole at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas during the second round of the Ascendant LPGA benefiting Volunteers of America in 2014.

It is the first ace to be recorded on the LPGA Tour since five holes-in-one were made just a few weeks ago at the Maybank Championship at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club in Malaysia. Song is now the third player on Tour to have recorded multiple aces this season, alongside Epson Tour graduates Jiwon Jeon and Auston Kim.

In honor of her hole-in-one, CME Group will make another $20,000 donation on Song’s behalf to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as part of their CME Group Cares Challenge – Score 1 for St. Jude campaign. The Challenge is a season-long charitable giving program that sees CME Group turn aces into donations for childhood cancer research.

Song’s ace now raises the 2024 donation total to $540,000, and she was delighted to hear that CME Group would be contributing another $20,000 to St. Jude’s, knowing just how unique an opportunity it is to do so multiple times during a single season.

“I think it's for a great cause, and for me to have some sort of input in that, it's an amazing feeling,” Song said. “I hope that I can make more hole-in-ones this week.”
