Republic of Korea native Jiwon Jeon made her second hole-in-one of the 2024 LPGA Tour season on Moving Day at the Buick LPGA Shanghai.

The Epson Tour Graduate aced the par-3 7th hole at Qizhong Garden Golf Club, holing out from 171 yards with her 5-iron. It’s the second hole-in-one to be recorded at the Buick LPGA Shanghai this week and is the 27-year-old’s second ace of the 2024 LPGA Tour season, as she made a hole-in-one on the second hole at Columbia Edgewater Country Club during round two of the Portland Classic.

“I was surprised because on the tee, you can't really see the hole,” said Jeon. “I thought it was a good shot and good 5-iron, like a little drawing, hits the green, and I was like, oh, it's a good shot. I didn't see it land and then roll, so I didn't really know where it finished. When I got there, Hinako (Shibuno) came up like, you made a hole-in-one, and we were just celebrating afterward. It was a very excited, very fun moment there.”

The ace was a bright spot in what was a rollercoaster day three for Jeon in the People’s Republic of China. In addition to her hole-in-one, Jeon made five bogeys and five birdies in the third round, posting a 2-under 70 that helped her get back to 1-over total for the tournament. She currently sits in a tie for 60th ahead of the final round and will be working hard to climb the leaderboard and maintain her position in the top 100 of the Race to the CME Globe on Sunday.

Jeon’s fellow Epson Tour Graduate Auston Kim made an ace on Friday at the Buick LPGA Shanghai, and like Kim, Jeon will see a $20,000 donation made on her behalf to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital courtesy of CME Group as part of their CME Group Cares Challenge – Score 1 for St. Jude.

The Challenge is a season-long charitable giving campaign that turns aces into donations, with CME Group contributing $20,000 for every hole-in-one made on the LPGA Tour this season to childhood cancer care and research.

Jeon’s ace raises the 2024 donation total to $420,000, with a minimum donation of $500,000 guaranteed to go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at the end of the 2024 LPGA Tour season.
