Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 Nelly Korda etched her name into the history books on Sunday at The Club at Carlton Woods, winning her second major and fifth straight LPGA Tour title at The Chevron Championship.
She becomes just the third player since 1978 to win five consecutive events on the LPGA Tour, joining Nancy Lopez (1978) and Annika Sorenstam (2004 Mizuno Classic – 2005 Chevron Championship), and is the third player to win The Chevron Championship as the Rolex Rankings No. 1 since the rankings were created in 2006, alongside Lorena Ochoa and Lydia Ko.
Let’s take a look back at Korda’s five straight victories this season:
LPGA Drive On Championship
Korda went birdie-eagle on her final two holes in regulation at Bradenton Country Club to force a playoff with 20-time LPGA Tour winner Lydia Ko at the LPGA Drive On Championship. She ultimately outlasted the two-time major winner in extra holes to capture her ninth career LPGA Tour victory in her hometown of Bradenton, Fla.
FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship
On a chilly day at Palos Verdes Golf Club, Korda once again found herself in a playoff, this time with UCLA alum Ryann O’Toole. She only needed one hole at the FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship to collect her 10th win, becoming the 39th different American to earn double-digit victories on the LPGA Tour.
Ford Championship presented by KCC
The final round at Seville Golf and Country Club saw Korda emerge victorious once again in challenging conditions. She carded a 7-under 65 on day four in Gilbert, Ariz., to pick up her 11th Tour title at the Ford Championship presented by KCC.
T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards
Korda handily advanced to the match-play portion of the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards and then ran through the bracket quickly, facing off against Leona Maguire in the championship match. She ultimately beat the Irishwoman 4 and 3 on Sunday at Shadow Creek to earn her 12th career victory and fourth win of the 2024 season.
The Chevron Championship
With just a one-shot lead coming up the 18th after Maja Stark went birdie-birdie to cut her advantage to one, Korda two-putted from the back fringe of the 18th green at The Club at Carlton Woods to win The Chevron Championship by two shots with a four-day total of 13-under in The Woodlands, Texas. Korda then took a leap into the pond by the green to celebrate her victory.
