Amundi Evian Championship winner Grace Kim now has a chance to end the LPGA Tour’s streak of different champions that dates back to the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions over the weekend at The Standard Portland Classic after posting a 65 on day two in Oregon.

She opened with a 4-under 68 at Columbia Edgewater Country Club, one that saw her make three bogeys and seven birdies, two sets of which came back-to-back on holes 10, 11, 15 and 16. The Australian then carded a 7-under 65 on Friday to move from T20 to solo second with 36 holes remaining in Portland, just one shot off the pace of current leader Jeongeun Lee5.

Starting her second round on the back nine, Kim made her first birdie of the day on the par-5 12th hole to climb to 5-under for the tournament, picking up another birdie on 15 to get to 6-under. The 24-year-old then stumbled on 16 with a bogey, but she quickly steadied herself with a birdie on 17 before parring 18 to turn in 34 at 6-under overall.

After making birdie on the par-3 2nd hole to climb to 7-under, Kim eagled the par-5 5th to jump up to 9-under, what was the highlight of her second round. She finished off her nearly flawless effort with a pair of back-to-back birdies on eight and nine to post a 65, tying her low round of the 2025 season, which Kim most recently shot on day one of The Amundi Evian Championship en route to picking up her first major championship victory.

And while she was certainly feeling confident after kicking off her week in Portland with a Thursday 68, Kim had a bit of extra motivation to go low on day two of the Portland Classic, hunger that came from a friendly wager she made with a member of her support staff, one that Kim ultimately won.

“I had a bet with my physio this morning,” said Kim with a knowing smile. “To shoot 7-under, he had to wear a yellow tutu for the International Crown. So, I did that and made a long birdie putt on the last hole to make that 7-under, so he's wearing a tutu.”

This is Kim’s third time teeing it up in The Standard Portland Classic, and in her previous two starts in this tournament, she finished in a tie for 26th in her debut in 2023 and then tied for ninth last season with a four-day total of 17-under. This is her 15th event of the year, and along with capturing her second career LPGA Tour title in France, the Epson Tour graduate has earned one other top-10 finish in 2025, a solo ninth that she recorded in May at the Black Desert Championship presented by Greater Zion.

Even though her two starts following her playoff victory at Evian Resort Golf Club saw her miss the cut and finish in a tie for 67th at the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open and the AIG Women’s Open, respectively, Kim seems to have gotten her game back on track quickly after picking up the biggest title of her young career.

And now, with another weekend in contention upcoming, Kim will be working hard to maintain a steady pace as she eyes a third LPGA Tour title and the opportunity to become the first player to earn two or more victories in 2025 over the next 36 holes at Columbia Edgewater Country Club.

“This week is always a bit of a birdie fest,” Kim said. “Everyone tends to go low, and it's pretty stacked. So, knowing that, I'm going to try not to get too ahead of myself and be greedy. Just try and stay patient and let the birdies come to me rather than trying to force them.”
