Hannah Green, Lauren Coughlin and Jeeno Thitikul took off running down the par-4 9th hole on Friday afternoon at the FM Championship.

With another band of play-halting inclement weather on the way at TPC Boston, the threesome was bound and determined to finish the final hole of their second round before the horn blew to signal the third of what were three weather delays on day two in Massachusetts.

And while they might’ve worn out their caddies with the unexpected jog, a little extra exercise was more than worth it to Green and her groupmates, who wound up putting out just in the nick of time before another deluge drenched the field and saw athletes evacuated from the golf course.

“I don't know who said let's do it. I think it was probably Jeeno (Thitikul), and all of us completely agreed,” Green said. “We didn't want to have to wait for one more delay. We were all slowly jogging, and Jeeno was going quicker, and we're all catching up, and all the caddies ran as well. I think if we didn't run on that hole, we would still be putting on the 9th green. I am just glad it was a team effort and that everyone wanted to finish after already two delays.”

Despite the spirited dash to the finish line and the inclement weather issues, Green carded a near-perfect 68 on day two of the FM Championship, a performance that moved her into a share of third before play was suspended due to darkness at 7:15 p.m. local time.

After opening with a 68 in the first round, the Australian major champion raced out of the gate on Friday, quickly picking up two birdies on the par-3 11th and par-5 12th holes at TPC Boston to climb to 6-under for the tournament. Green grabbed another birdie on 15 and then parred her next three holes to turn in 33 at 7-under overall.

She dropped her only shot of the day on the par-3 3rd hole after making a bogey, but Green recovered with a birdie on four, notching one last birdie on the par-5 7th hole to close out her second consecutive 68, one that has her sitting at 8-under overall with 36 holes remaining in Norton, Mass.

Her made cut at the FM Championship marks Green’s first time playing the weekend on the LPGA Tour since the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship back in June. And after missing four consecutive cuts in her last four tournament appearances, the 28-year-old is pleased to see her game rounding into form once again late in the season, particularly after what’s been a challenging period of ball-striking for the six-time Tour winner.

“My ball striking has not been that good the last couple of months, so I feel like I've had to rely heavy on my short game,” Green said. “It's nice that I actually feel like where I want the ball to go is where it's actually going. I definitely feel confident around the greens. It's nice that I have been hitting more greens and actually have some opportunities to make birdies.”

This is Green’s 15th start of the 2025 season, and outside of her recent woes, she has still managed to rack up four top-15 results in her 14 starts ahead of the FM Championship, the best of which is a tie for fourth that came at the Founders Cup in February and the most recent of which is a tie for 12th that came at the U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally at Erin Hills.

Green trekked to TPC Boston for the first-ever edition of this event last season and tied for 10th after posting a four-round total of 9-under in 2024, a score she is already well on her way to improving upon through two days in Massachusetts.

But with 36 holes still to play, and after rains substantially softened what was a firm and fast venue for the world’s best athletes throughout the course of the second round, Green knows that she will have to match the pace of her fellow competitors in terms of recording birdies if she wants to be contending for her seventh career title on Sunday afternoon just outside of Boston.

With that goal in mind, the Aussie will continue attacking TPC Boston as much as she can as the FM Championship rolls on, working hard to align herself with those at the top of the leaderboard as Green tries to make 2025 her third straight winning season on the LPGA Tour.
