The LPGA Tour’s streak of different champions rolls on as the world’s best travel to Hawaii for the 13th playing of the LOTTE Championship presented by Hoakalei.

The Tour last competed in Rogers, Ark., a week that saw the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G shortened to 18 holes because of inclement weather. The cancellation of the final two rounds at Pinnacle Country Club made the 19th edition of the long-standing tournament unofficial, meaning that even though Minami Katsu and Sarah Schmelzel finished in a tie for first at 8-under, there was no playoff contested to decide a winner, and neither athlete is counted as a 2025 champion.

As a result, the run of different winners on the LPGA Tour that dates back to the season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and that has seen 25 different athletes win the first 24 official tournaments of the year has a chance to continue in Hawaii.

If another player were to triumph for the first time this season at Hoakalei Country Club, it would tie the LPGA Tour record for most winners in a single year at 26, something that has only been done three times since 1995, with 26 different athletes crowned victors in 1995, 2018 and 2022. A new benchmark will then be set if a 27th athlete picks up a win at one of the six tournaments that remain following the LOTTE Championship.

This event has only ever seen one repeat champion, as Canadian Brooke Henderson took home the LOTTE Championship title in back-to-back seasons in 2018 and 2019, and interestingly, its past five winners, including Henderson, as well as defending champion A Lim Kim, 2023 winner Grace Kim, 2022 champion Hyo Joo Kim and 2021 winner Lydia Ko have all claimed victory on the LPGA Tour in 2025. However, only A Lim Kim, Hyo Joo Kim and Henderson are in this year’s field.

The 2025 season has seen 11 athletes become Rolex First-Time Winners, the most recent of whom is People’s Republic of China native and Epson Tour graduate Miranda Wang, who won the FM Championship in late August over Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul at TPC Boston in Norton, Mass.

Along with Wang, six other rookies count themselves among that group of new champions, a slate of players that includes Japanese twin sisters Akie and Chisato Iwai; former Louisiana State University Tiger Ingrid Lindblad; Blue Bay LPGA winner Rio Takeda; 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion Lottie Woad; and AIG Women’s Open winner and Olympian Miyu Yamashita.

It’s the second time since 1980 that seven rookies have won in a single season, as that also happened in 2009, and if another athlete were to pick up their first LPGA Tour title in the seven events that have yet to be played in 2025, it would tie the record for most Rolex First-Time Winners in a season that was first set in 2023 when 12 different athletes earned their first career victories.

And with time running out to secure valuable points in the Race to the CME Globe, Rolex Player of the Year standings and Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year race, every athlete in the field has something to play for at the LOTTE Championship presented by Hoakalei, whether it be a spot in the year-ending CME Group Tour Championship, a season-long award or 2026 LPGA Tour status. There’s even a little bit of history on the line.
