Even though weather shortened this year’s tournament to just 18 holes, Dow and event organizers kept fans, athletes and the community engaged with initiatives that proved how sport can be a platform for sustainable progress.

Sustainability in Action at Pinnacle Country Club

Everywhere you look at golf tournaments, there’s an opportunity to advance sustainability. You may just not realize it at first glance. At Pinnacle Country Club, fans experienced both Dow’s and several other tournament partners’ commitment first-hand throughout the week.

Three-bin waste collection systems were placed across hospitality and fan zones to encourage proper composting, recycling, and landfill disposal. Bike-friendly access and a planned guided ride to the course promoted greener transportation, while a Sustainability Showcase on the ninth hole gave attendees a closer look at the company’s science-driven solutions.

Digital guides replaced paper programs to reduce waste, and the tournament partnered with local organizations to advance diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, reinforcing that sustainability also means investing in community well-being.

Raising the Standard for Sustainable Golf

The Walmart NW Arkansas Championship is part of a growing blueprint for how sustainability can be embedded in professional golf. The tournament became the second LPGA Tour stop to earn GEO Certified® status, the global mark for sustainability in golf. That achievement followed the Dow Championship’s milestone recognition in 2019 as the first LPGA event and the first professional tournament in its inaugural year to be certified.

Since its launch, the Dow Championship has been recognized annually as the LPGA’s most sustainable tournament. Together, these events highlight how the LPGA and Dow are scaling best practices to make sustainability a consistent part of the Tour.
