EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France — The world’s best athletes are in Evian-les-Bains, France this week for The Amundi Evian Championship, the fourth of five major championships that will be contested on the LPGA Tour this season. As is generally the case for majors, the 132-player field is chock-full of the game’s strongest talents, including players like Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 Nelly Korda, Frenchwoman Celine Boutier, defending champion Ayaka Furue and 2015 Amundi Evian Championship winner and LPGA Hall of Famer Lydia Ko. Canadian Brooke Henderson is also slated to compete, as are all three of this year’s major champions, a list that includes Chevron Championship winner Mao Saigo, U.S. Women’s Open champion Maja Stark and KPMG Women’s PGA Championship winner Minjee Lee, who is also a past champion of The Amundi Evian Championship.

Thursday, 7:48 a.m.*/Friday, 12:48 p.m. – Jeeno Thitikul/Lydia Ko/Brooke Henderson

Jeeno Thitikul is already a winner this season, picking up her fifth career LPGA Tour title at the Mizuho Americas Open in May at Liberty National Golf Club, but the Thailand native remains in search of her first major championship title, a pursuit that will continue this week at The Amundi Evian Championship. This is Thitikul’s sixth start in this event, and in her five previous appearances, she has collected three consecutive top-10 finishes, coming in fifth in 2021, tying for eighth in 2022 and tying for ninth in 2023. This is her 13th tournament of the 2025 season, and along with her win in New Jersey, Thitikul has racked up six other top-10 results, five of which are actually top fives, the most notable of which is the tie for fourth she posted at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Fields Ranch East. Statistically, according to KPMG Performance Insights, Thitikul is leading several categories on the Tour this season, including scoring average (69.43), strokes gained total (+2.76), percentage of rounds in the 60s (56.8 percent), top-10 finishes (7), putts per green in regulation (1.71), putts made from 15 plus feet (49) and par-3 scoring (2.91). The 22-year-old is also seventh in strokes gained putting (+0.98), 11th in strokes gained tee to green (+1.40) and 12th in strokes gained approach (+0.77), additionally sitting in second in birdie percentage (25.38 percent), second in both birdie or better average per round (4.73) and birdie or better percentage (26.28 percent) and in a tie for second in rounds in the 60s (21).

It's been 10 years since Lydia Ko became the youngest major champion in LPGA Tour history at The Amundi Evian Championship, winning this event back in 2015 by six strokes over American Lexi Thompson. Ko collected her 23rd career LPGA Tour title earlier this season at the HSBC Women’s World Championship and will be working to earn her fourth major title at Evian Resort Golf Club. This is her 12th time teeing it up in The Amundi Evian Championship, and in her 11 previous appearances in this major tournament, the 28-year-old has collected six top-10 finishes along with her victory, the most recent of which came in 2022 when Ko tied for third at Evian Resort Golf Club. She is making her 11th start of the 2025 season in France, and outside of her win in Singapore, Ko has earned four additional top-15 results, the most notable of which is the tie for 12th she posted at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Fields Ranch East in Frisco, Texas. According to KPMG Performance Insights, the three-time Olympic medalist is ranked inside the top 30 of five major strokes gained categories in 2025, currently sitting at third in strokes gained around the green (+0.61), seventh in strokes gained total (+1.83), 11th in strokes gained putting (+0.89), 27th in strokes gained tee to green (+0.86) and 29th in strokes gained approach (+0.49). In terms of The Amundi Evian Championship specifically, Ko ranks first at this event in top-10 finishes (7), score to par (58-under), rounds in the 60s (23) and rounds under par (27) since it became a major in 2013.

Brooke Henderson picked up her second career major victory at The Amundi Evian Championship in 2022, winning by one stroke over Sophia Schubert after posting a four-day total of 17-under at Evian Resort Golf Club. That was the 12th of 13 career victories that Henderson has recorded throughout her LPGA Tour career, a tally that makes her the winningest Canadian, male or female, in the history of professional golf. The 27-year-old remains in search of her 14th Tour title, having not won on Tour since the 2023 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, and will be looking to end her winless drought at the year’s fourth major. This is her 10th start in The Amundi Evian Championship, and in her nine previous appearances, Henderson has posted three other top-10 results, the best and most recent of which came in 2023 when she finished solo second to Frenchwoman Celine Boutier. She is teeing it up in her 15th tournament of the 2025 season this week and has racked up four top-15 finishes in her 14 events ahead of this major, the most recent of which is a tie for 14th that she posted at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. According to KPMG Performance Insights, Henderson is ranked inside the top 15 of two major strokes gained categories, currently sitting at 10th in strokes gained around the green (+0.40) and 15th in strokes gained off the tee (+0.63). She is also 10th in driving accuracy, finding the fairway 78.93 percent of the time with her tee shots.

Thursday, 8 a.m.*/Friday, 1 p.m. – Minjee Lee/Mao Saigo/Maja Stark

All three 2025 major champions will be playing alongside one another for the first two rounds of The Amundi Evian Championship. Minjee Lee collected her third major victory in June at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Fields Ranch East in Frisco, Texas, winning by three strokes over Chanettee Wannasaen and Auston Kim with a four-day total of 4-under. The Australian is now just one event away from completing the Career Grand Slam on the LPGA Tour, as she also won The Amundi Evian Championship in 2021 and the U.S. Women’s Open in 2022 at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club, and two events away from finishing the Super Career Grand Slam, which the LPGA considers to be when a player wins five different major tournaments that are designated as such throughout their careers. Lee only needs to win either the AIG Women’s Open or The Chevron Championship to finish the Career Grand Slam and would need victories at both to join her fellow countrywoman Karrie Webb as the second Super Slammer in LPGA Tour history. The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship victory was the 29-year-old’s first since the 2023 BMW Ladies Championship and was one of four total top-10 finishes she has posted in 2025, as Lee tied for fourth at the season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, came in second at the Blue Bay LPGA and tied for seventh at the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro. Looking at KPMG Performance Insights data, Lee is ranked inside the top 20 of three major strokes gained categories this season, currently sitting at third in strokes gained total (+2.40), fifth in strokes gained putting (+1.15) and 19th in strokes gained off the tee (+0.57). Her putting was key to her victory in Texas, as Lee led the field in strokes gained putting (+2.55) after ranking fifth in that metric heading into the week at PGA Frisco. Lee was ranked 141st in strokes gained putting in 2023 and 157th in 2024, pointing to the drastic improvements she has made on the greens with the broomstick putter she put into the bag at the beginning of the year.

Mao Saigo became both a Rolex First-Time Winner and a first-time major champion at The Chevron Championship, surviving a five-person playoff with Lindy Duncan, Ariya Jutanugarn, Hyo Joo Kim and Ruoning Yin to become just the fourth Japanese athlete to win a major title on the LPGA Tour. This week’s Amundi Evian Championship is her 13th start of the 2025 season, and along with her victory, Saigo has collected four other top-10 results this year, most notably tying for fourth at the U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally at Erin Hills Golf Course. This is her fourth appearance in The Amundi Evian Championship, and in her three previous starts at Evian Resort Golf Club, Saigo tied for third in 2022, missed the cut in 2023 and tied for 35th in 2024. Statistically, Saigo is only ranked inside the top 15 in one major strokes gained category this season, according to KPMG Performance Insights, currently sitting at 12th in strokes gained putting (+0.86). But she is tied for 10th in sub-par rounds (26) and seventh in putts per green in regulation (1.74), the latter of which could prove helpful at this venue, which famously has tricky, undulating greens that can often give players fits. Saigo is one of three Japanese players to have won on the LPGA Tour in 2025, a list that also includes rookies Rio Takeda (Blue Bay LPGA) and Chisato Iwai (MEXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba).

Maja Stark joined Liselotte Neumann and Annika Sorenstam as just the third athlete from Sweden to win the U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally when she earned her first major victory at the 2025 edition of the event at Erin Hills Golf Course. It was Stark’s second career LPGA Tour victory and first since she won as a non-member in 2022 at the ISPS Handa World Invitational, a win that saw her accept the automatic LPGA Tour membership offered as a result of her non-member victory. This is Stark’s fourth time teeing it up in The Amundi Evian Championship, and the Swede has struggled here in her three prior starts, missing two cuts and only managing to finish in a tie for 39th in 2024. This is her 12th start of the 2025 season, and in addition to her victory, Stark has earned one other top-10 result, a tie for fifth that she recorded at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards. In terms of her year-long statistics, Stark is 17th in strokes gained off the tee (+0.59), according to KPMG Performance Insights, what is her most notable statistical ranking on the LPGA Tour in 2025.

Thursday, 12:48 p.m./Friday, 7:48 a.m.* – Nelly Korda/Chisato Iwai/Celine Boutier

Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 Nelly Korda is making her eighth start in The Amundi Evian Championship this week at Evian Resort Golf Club and will continue her pursuit of a 16th LPGA Tour title and third major championship victory this week in France. In her last five appearances in this major championship, the 26-year-old has finished in the top 26 five consecutive times, earning a career-best finish of T8 back in 2022. This is Korda’s 11th start of the 2025 season, and in her 10 previous starts this year, the two-time major champion has made all 10 cuts and earned four top-10 finishes, the best of which is a solo second that she posted at the season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and the most notable of which is the tie for second Korda recorded at the U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally at Erin Hills in Wisconsin. Looking at her season-long statistics, the world No. 1 is first in strokes gained off the tee (+1.10), second in strokes gained total (+2.47) and second in strokes gained tee to green (+1.89). She is also first on Tour in birdie percentage (26.67 percent), birdie or better average per round (4.86) and birdie or better percentage (26.98 percent) and par-5 scoring average (4.52). Korda additionally ranks second in scoring average (69.57), third in ball striking (14) and third in birdie to bogey ratio (1.89). Two of Korda’s 15 total LPGA Tour victories are major titles that she earned at the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and the 2024 Chevron Championship.

Japanese rookie Chisato Iwai became a Rolex First-Time Winner at the MEXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba in May, winning by a whopping six shots over her fellow rookie Jenny Bae in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. This week’s Amundi Evian Championship is the 14th start of the 23-year-old’s inaugural LPGA Tour campaign, and her victory is one of just two top-five results Iwai has posted this season, with her second coming just a few weeks ago at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, where Iwai tied for fourth. She made her Amundi Evian Championship debut last year, ultimately missing the cut in 2024, and will be working hard to redeem herself in the 2025 edition of the event, in which she is competing as a full LPGA Tour member. Iwai is currently ranked inside the top 25 of three strokes gained categories this year, according to KPMG Performance Insights data. She is 16th in strokes gained tee to green (+1.17), 19th in strokes gained total (+1.44) and 23rd in strokes gained off the tee (+0.51). Iwai has also made 161 birdies in 2025, the 15th most of any athlete on the LPGA Tour.

Celine Boutier became the first Frenchwoman to win The Amundi Evian Championship back in 2023 when she won the major championship in her home country by six shots over 2022 champion Brooke Henderson. That victory was part of a four-win season that Boutier had in 2023, as she also won the LPGA Drive On Championship at Superstition Mountain, the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open and the Maybank Championship, the last of which is the 31-year-old’s most recent LPGA Tour title. Outside of her victory, Boutier hasn’t done much else of note in this tournament, only managing to finish inside the top 30 two other times, doing so in 2014 (T29) and 2021 (T29). The six-time LPGA Tour winner, who is the winningest French player in LPGA and PGA Tour history, has fared pretty well in 2025, making 12 cuts in her 14 starts and collecting four top-10 results, the best of which is a solo second that she posted at the Mizuho Americas Open in May. Statistically, it’s been a strong season for Boutier, who is second on Tour in birdies (193), tied for fourth in sub-par rounds (29), tied for seventh in putts per hole (1.61) and tied for 10th in putts per round (29). She is additionally 16th in strokes gained putting, picking up 0.75 shots on the field with her flat stick, according to KPMG Performance Insights data.
