The LPGA Tour descends upon Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore this week for the HSBC Women’s World Championship. As is the norm for this long-standing event, the field is chock full of some of the world’s top talent and will see nine athletes currently ranked inside the top 10 of the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings tee it up at the Tanjong Course. That group of players includes the likes of LPGA Hall of Famer Lydia Ko, who is making her 11th appearance in this tournament; young superstars Jeeno Thitikul and Ruoning Yin, who are both playing in their second event of the 2025 season this week in Singapore; and defending champion Hannah Green, who won the first of her three 2024 titles at the HSBC Women’s World Championship last year.

Using data provided by KPMG Performance Insights, take a look at just some of the featured groups competing this week in Singapore.

Thursday, 8:54 a.m. – Ruoning Yin/Yuka Saso/Ayaka Furue

People’s Republic of China native Ruoning Yin is making her second start of the 2025 LPGA Tour season this week at the HSBC Women’s World Championship and will be working to improve upon the T26 finish she recorded last week at the Honda LPGA Thailand to kick off her fourth year as a Tour member. It’s just the 22-year-old’s second time teeing it up in Singapore at this event, as Yin made her tournament debut at the 2024 HSBC Women’s World Championship, ultimately tying for 13th at Sentosa Golf Club. Last year saw an incredibly solid season-long performance from the young talent, as Yin added three tallies to her win column after capturing titles at the Dow Championship, an event she won alongside her playing partner Jeeno Thitikul, the Buick LPGA Shanghai, which was held in her home country, and the Maybank Championship, contested in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She also collected three other top-10 results, the best and most notable of which was a tie for second that came at the AIG Women’s Open at St Andrews. According to data provided by KPMG Performance Insights, Yin has consistently been one of the best approach players over the past couple of years on the LPGA Tour, finishing the 2023 season ranked second in strokes gained approach (+1.18) and then sitting at third in that same metric at the end of last year, picking up 1.19 strokes on average with her approach shots. Yin also was third in strokes gained tee to green (+1.62) and sixth in strokes gained total (+1.66) after wrapping up her 2024 season with a solo fourth finish at the CME Group Tour Championship.

The HSBC Women’s World Championship is Yuka Saso’s fourth consecutive event of the 2025 season, and the Japan native is trending upwards after a T17 finish at the Honda LPGA Thailand last week, a big improvement from the T59 result she recorded at the Founders Cup presented by U.S. Virgin Islands and the T30 she posted at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. She is playing in her fourth edition of this event held annually at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore, and Saso has earned two top-20 results in her three previous starts, including a solo sixth that came in 2023 and a tie for 17th that she carded in 2024. It was a solid season for Saso last year, one that saw her pick up her second career LPGA Tour title at the U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania, a victory that was also her second U.S Women’s Open title, as Saso won the 2021 playing of the major championship at The Olympic Club in California. Saso only managed to earn two other top-10 results in 2024, though, carding a solo fourth finish at the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G and tying for ninth at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards. Saso hasn’t done too much early in the 2025 season in terms of strokes gained data, but she is currently ranked third in putts per green in regulation (1.67) and tied for sixth in sub-par rounds, posting eight rounds of par or better so far this year.

Like Saso, Ayaka Furue is making her fourth start of the year this week at the HSBC Women’s World Championship, but she has a slightly more consistent slate of results to her credit so far this season. The Japanese major champion tied for 25th at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions to begin her fourth season as an LPGA Tour member and then backed that up with a tie for 13th at the Founders Cup presented by U.S. Virgin Islands at Bradenton Country Club. Furue tied for 20th last week at the Honda LPGA Thailand and will be trying to collect her first top-10 result of the season in Singapore. The 24-year-old is teeing it up in her fourth straight HSBC Women’s World Championship, and after tying for 23rd in 2022, she finished T3 in 2023 and then tied for eighth in 2024 at Sentosa Golf Club’s Tanjong Course. It was her putting that helped Furue to that T8 result last year according to KPMG Performance Insights, as she finished the week ranked third in strokes gained putting, picking up 1.71 shots on the field on the greens, but she struggled with her ball-striking, ranking 31st in strokes gained tee to green, which ultimately kept her from contending for the HSBC Women’s World Championship title. Considering her early consistency and the heater of a year she had in 2024, a season that saw her win The Amundi Evian Championship and earn 11 additional top-10 finishes, don’t count Furue out this week in Singapore, as she just might be in the mix come Sunday if she can improve her ball-striking at the Tanjong Course.

Thursday, 9:06 a.m. – A Lim Kim/Lilia Vu/Angel Yin

A Lim Kim won the first tournament of the season in Orlando, Fla., collecting her third career LPGA Tour title with a wire-to-wire performance at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club. She didn’t play in the Founders Cup the week after her victory because she was a bridesmaid in her fellow LPGA Tour athlete Xiyu Lin’s wedding, but Kim did travel to Thailand for the Honda LPGA Thailand, ultimately finishing solo sixth last week at Siam Country Club’s Old Course. Considering that she is coming off those two solid showings ahead of her fifth career appearance at the HSBC Women’s World Championship, Kim is going to be hard to ignore this week in Singapore. She has collected two top-15 finishes in her four previous starts in this event, tying for ninth in 2022 and tying for 14th in 2023, both appearances in which she posted her tournament-best score of 66 once. Looking at data provided by KPMG Performance Insights, Kim is currently second on Tour in strokes gained total (+3.79), second in strokes gained tee to green (+3.40), second in strokes gained around the green (+1.74) and fourth in strokes gained driving (+1.06) through her first two starts of the year. She is also tied for first in rounds in the 60s (7), second in birdie or better percentage (34.72 percent) and third in scoring average (67.38).

Lilia Vu made her first start of 2025 last week at the Honda LPGA Thailand, a tournament she won in 2023 to kick off her incredible four-win season that year. She didn’t perform as well as she would have liked in Thailand, tying for 64th after posting rounds of 76-73-74-69 at Siam Country Club, a bit of a slow start that Vu will be working to shake off as she tees it up at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore. This week marks her third start in this event, and in her two prior appearances, Vu tied for 14th in her tournament debut in 2023 and then withdrew during the final round last year due to illness. The five-time LPGA Tour winner is looking to have a bit of a quieter year in 2025, as she dealt with a back injury for much of last season, even taking a two-month hiatus after withdrawing from her title defense at The Chevron Championship which lasted until the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give, a tournament she won over Grace Kim and Lexi Thompson in a three-hole playoff in her first start back from that extended break. Vu also collected three other top-10 results in 2024, a slate of finishes that included a tie for seventh at the Honda LPGA Thailand and two T2s that she recorded at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Sahalee Country Club and the AIG Women’s Open at the Old Course at St Andrews. While there isn’t much to go on just yet when it comes to the California native’s 2025 statistics or recent form, Vu is an athlete who can always play her way into contention no matter the circumstances, something she just might do again at the HSBC Women’s World Championship.

Angel Yin showed up and out at the Honda LPGA Thailand last week, capturing her second career LPGA Tour title in stunning fashion after posting a 72-hole tournament record of 28-under to win by one stroke over Japanese rookie Akie Iwai. Yin’s 28-under performance also tied the third-lowest 72-hole score to be recorded in LPGA Tour history. It was the Californian’s first victory on Tour since the 2023 Buick LPGA Shanghai, an event she won in October of that year in a playoff over her groupmate Vu, and according to KPMG Performance Insights, Yin hit 66 greens in regulation at Siam Country Club, the most she had ever hit in any single event in her LPGA Tour career. The 26-year-old will be working to continue her hot streak this week at the HSBC Women’s World Championship and hopes to add another top-20 result to her 2025 resume, as along with her win in Thailand, Yin also tied for 18th at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and finished solo 10th at the Founders Cup presented by U.S. Virgin Islands. This is Yin’s fifth time competing in Singapore on the LPGA Tour, and in her four previous starts in this tournament, she has never finished better than T34, something that she will be working to rectify this week at Sentosa Golf Club. It stands to reason that Yin could easily improve upon that result, particularly considering how well she has played in her last 16 LPGA Tour rounds. Looking at data from KPMG Performance Insights, she has gained 2.76 strokes total in that span with a 67.8 scoring average and nine rounds of 67 or lower. Yin is a cumulative 64-under in those 16 rounds with a birdie or better percentage of 29.6 percent and has additionally hit 80.2 percent of her greens in regulation in that timeframe.

Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – Lydia Ko/Hannah Green/Jeeno Thitikul

Lydia Ko has competed in every edition of the HSBC Women’s World Championship that has been contested since 2014, never finishing worse than a tie for 34th in her 10 previous starts in Singapore. From 2014 to 2021, Ko collected seven straight top-15 results in this tournament, the best and most notable of which is a solo second that she recorded in 2015. This is Ko’s third event of the 2025 LPGA Tour season, and she is still working to get things kicked into high gear after coming solo sixth in her title defense at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and then tying for 48th at the Founders Cup. Much of the difference between her first two tournaments of the year was in her ball-striking, as Ko gained 3.67 strokes on approach at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club and then lost 6.98 strokes with her approach shots at Bradenton Country Club, according to data provided by KPMG Performance Insights. But if she can shore up that part of her game this week at Sentosa Golf Club, considering all the positive experiences that she has had at this venue, Ko just might be in contention on Sunday afternoon, which would be an unsurprising place to find the 22-time LPGA Tour winner and LPGA Hall of Famer at this long-standing event.

Hannah Green won the HSBC Women’s World Championship in 2024, making birdies on the last three holes at Sentosa Golf Club’s Tanjong Course to defeat French major champion Celine Boutier by just one stroke in Singapore, something that only four other players have done since the 2010 season, looking at data provided by KPMG Performance Insights. Her victory last year was one of three LPGA Tour victories the Australian racked up in 2024, as Green also successfully defended her title at the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro in the spring and won again in the fall at the BMW Ladies Championship to record her first three-win season ever on the LPGA Tour. It was a spectacular year that Green is hoping to build off in 2025, a goal she has already started to make progress on in her first two starts of the year, tying for 20th at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and then tying for fourth at the Founders Cup presented by U.S. Virgin Islands. This week will be her fifth time competing in the HSBC Women’s World Championship, and in addition to her win, Green has earned three other top-20 results, including a runner-up performance in 2021, a tie for sixth in 2022 and a tie for 20th that came in 2023.

Jeeno Thitikul has been playing some impeccable golf since the 2024 FM Championship, earning two worldwide victories and seven other top-10 finishes in her previous nine competitive starts around the globe. She won the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship in November, a victory that came with a historic $4 million first-place check, the largest single prize in all of women’s golf, and then earned her fifth career Ladies European Tour title just a couple of weeks ago at the PIF Saudi Ladies International. The recently turned 22-year-old backed up that victory with a solo third showing in her home country at the Honda LPGA Thailand last week and now comes to the HSBC Women’s World Championship as one of the hottest players in women’s golf at the moment. Looking at data provided by KPMG Performance Insights, in her eight straight top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour, Thitikul is a cumulative 138 under par, has a scoring average of 67.5 and is gaining 3.28 strokes total, additionally making birdie or better 32.3 percent of the time. The four-time LPGA Tour winner has been a constant at the top of leaderboards since she joined the organization in 2022, and if her recent form is any indication, expect Thitikul to be contending for several more titles in 2025 as she works to add even more tallies to her win column.
