JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The Mizuho Americas Open is on deck this week for the LPGA Tour’s top talent as well as 24 junior girls from the American Junior Golf Association who will be competing in their own Stableford event at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, N.J. The professional field in the third edition of this tournament is once again chock full of several of the top superstars in the women’s game, including defending champion and 15-time LPGA Tour winner Nelly Korda, LPGA Hall of Famer Lydia Ko, Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul and inaugural Mizuho Americas Open winner Rose Zhang. There are also eight of this season’s 10 champions and 14 of the 21 total 2025 rookies competing, and they will be joined by several major winners, a slate that includes players like last year’s runner-up Hannah Green, 2024 U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally champion Yuka Saso, 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship winner Ruoning Yin and Amundi Evian Championship winner Ayaka Furue.

Thursday, 8:32 a.m./Friday, 1:32 p.m.* – Nelly Korda/Yuka Saso/Jeeno Thitikul

Nelly Korda is this year’s defending champion, having won the Mizuho Americas Open in 2024 after a gritty back-nine battle with Australian Hannah Green. The victory was her sixth win in seven starts last season, as Korda had won five consecutive tournaments and then tied for seventh at the Founders Cup presented by U.S. Virgin Islands ahead of her triumph at Liberty National Golf Club. The 2025 season has been much quieter for the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1, who has yet to find victory lane on the LPGA Tour this year but who has still played solidly, picking up two top-10 results at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions (2) and the Founders Cup presented by U.S. Virgin Islands (T7) and finishing no worse than T28 in her six tournaments ahead of this week in Jersey City, N.J. Even though she hasn’t collected her 16th career victory just yet, Korda is still highly ranked in several statistical categories, currently sitting at second in strokes gained off the tee, 19th in strokes gained approach and 20th in strokes gained putting, according to data provided by KPMG Performance Insights. Looking at that same information, she is hitting her long-distance approach shots from 175 to 200 yards to right around 30 feet, which is approximately 11 feet closer than the Tour average (41 feet), a performance that’s the third-best of counting players. She is additionally first on Tour in birdie percentage (29.44 percent), birdie or better average (5.35) and birdie or better percentage (29.72 percent). This is just Korda’s second time competing in this event, as she did not play in the inaugural Mizuho Americas Open in 2023.

Yuka Saso is teeing it up in her eighth tournament of the 2025 LPGA Tour season and is still working to find some momentum heading into her U.S. Women’s Open title defense at Erin Hills Golf Course. In her seven starts ahead of the Mizuho Americas Open, the Japanese major champion has missed three cuts, two of which were in her last two starts at The Chevron Championship and the Black Desert Championship presented by Greater Zion, and she has not finished any better than the T17 she recorded at the Honda LPGA Thailand in February. Looking at KPMG Performance Insights, Saso is only picking up shots in one major strokes gained category, doing so in strokes gained putting, in which she ranks 28th (+0.64). Her performance on the greens appears to have been her saving grace this season, as Saso is tied for sixth in putts per green in regulation (1.71). She is also ranked inside the top 20 in birdie percentage (17, 23.77 percent), birdie or better percentage (18, 24.07 percent) and birdie or better average per round (18, 4.33). This is her third time teeing it up at Liberty National Golf Club, and in her previous two appearances at the Mizuho Americas Open, Saso tied for seventh in 2023 and missed the cut in 2024.

Rolex Rankings No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul remains in search of her first win of the 2025 season at the Mizuho Americas Open, and this just might be her week to get it, considering her past performances at this tournament venue. The Thailand native has finished inside the top 10 in the previous two editions of this event, tying for 10th in Jersey City, N.J. in 2023 and tying for seventh in 2024. She has been playing some impeccable golf lately on both the LPGA and Ladies European Tours, picking up 12 top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour since August 2024, one of which was a victory that came at the CME Group Tour Championship and saw her take home a $4 million first-place winner’s check, the largest in all of women’s golf. She also earned her fifth career LET title earlier this season at the PIF Saudi Ladies International in February. This will be Thitikul’s eighth tournament played in 2025, and so far, she has earned four top-five results, the best of which is a tie for second that she recorded in Singapore at the HSBC Women’s World Championship. Statistically, the four-time LPGA Tour winner is also looking as strong as ever, making 33.3 percent of her putts from 10 to 20 feet, what is 10 percent longer than the Tour average, and ranking first in strokes gained total, second in birdie or better average and third in scoring average in 2025, all according to KPMG Performance Insights. Additionally, since the 2024 FM Championship, Thitikul is first in scoring average (68.27), strokes gained total (+2.93) and strokes gained putting (+1.60), also ranking seventh in strokes gained ball striking (+1.32). Thitikul is currently second in the Race to the CME Globe (978.45 points) and is sixth in Official Money ($681,769).

Thursday, 1:10 p.m.*/Friday, 8:21 a.m. – Ruoning Yin/Megan Khang/Hannah Green

Ruoning Yin has been riding a hot hand lately, having finished T2 in her last two starts on the LPGA Tour at The Chevron Championship, where she fell in a five-person playoff to Mao Saigo, and the Black Desert Championship presented by Greater Zion, where she finished five strokes behind winner Haeran Ryu. And the People’s Republic of China native will try to keep that momentum rolling into this week’s Mizuho Americas Open at Liberty National Golf Club. She has teed it up in the last two editions of this tournament, but things haven’t gone so well for Yin in Jersey City, N.J., as she withdrew after round one in 2024 and then tied for 39th in 2023, two performances she will be working to better in 2025. This is her eighth tournament of the year, and along with those two T2s, Yin has one additional top-25 result on her resume, a tie for 21st that came at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore. According to KPMG Performance Insights, the 22-year-old has collected 12 top-three results since the beginning of the 2023 season on the LPGA Tour, the most of any player in that span and a slate of finishes that, along with her five career victories, have largely contributed to her fourth-place position in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. Yin is currently ranked inside the top 20 of three major strokes gained categories, including strokes gained approach (5, +1.19), strokes gained tee to green (12, +1.38) and strokes gained total (15, +1.51). She is also tied for sixth in par-5 scoring (4.5), tied for 12th in putts per green in regulation (1.73) and tied for 15th in putts per round (28.75).

The Mizuho Americas Open is Megan Khang’s seventh start of the 2025 LPGA Tour season, and after having to withdraw from the Black Desert Championship presented by Greater Zion, the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open winner will be hoping to finish all four rounds at Liberty National Golf Club. Despite last week’s withdrawal, Khang has collected three top-20 results so far this year, including a solo third that she recorded at the Founders Cup presented by U.S. Virgin Islands, a tie for 17th that came at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards and a tie for 18th that she posted at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. This is the 27-year-old’s third appearance at the Mizuho Americas Open, and Khang will be trying to improve upon the T27 finish she carded in 2023 and the T14 result she earned in 2024 in her previous two showings in Jersey City, N.J. Even though she only has one top-10 finish on her 2025 resume, Khang has performed well statistically so far this season, currently ranking fourth in strokes gained approach (+1.21), fifth in strokes gained tee to green (+1.82) and 15th in strokes gained off the tee (+0.55), according to KPMG Performance Insights. She is also second in driving accuracy (85.29 percent), fifth in ball striking (25) and eighth in greens in regulation (77.45 percent), a combination that could prove deadly at a venue like Liberty National Golf Club that rewards good ball striking.

Hannah Green has only played in the Mizuho Americas Open one time, and she ultimately finished solo second to Nelly Korda in her tournament debut in 2024 after a tough battle with the Rolex Rankings No. 1 coming down the stretch at Liberty National Golf Club. This is her seventh start of the 2025 LPGA Tour season, and in her six previous events, the Australian has racked up four top-20 results, the best of which is a tie for fourth that came at the Founders Cup presented by U.S. Virgin Islands. Statistically, Green’s approach play has been her strength thus far in 2025, as according to KPMG Performance Insights, the 28-year-old is fourth in greens in regulation (78.8 percent), seventh in proximity to the hole from 125 to 150 yards (22 feet 5 inches) and 15th in overall proximity (24 feet 5 inches). She is ranked inside the top 35 of three strokes gained categories on Tour this year, including strokes gained total (30, +1.06), strokes gained around the green (34, +0.18) and strokes gained putting (35, +0.54). Green is additionally tied for second in par-3 scoring average (2.88), is ranked fourth in greens hit from the fairway percentage (85.09 percent) and is tied for seventh in bogey avoidance (10.35 percent).

Thursday, 1:32 p.m.*/Friday, 8:32 a.m. – Lydia Ko/Ayaka Furue/Rose Zhang

LPGA Hall of Famer Lydia Ko will be looking to pick up her second victory of the 2025 LPGA Tour season this week at the Mizuho Americas Open in her seventh start of the year. She collected her 23rd career title in early March at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore after beating her groupmate Ayaka Furue and Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul by four shots at Sentosa Golf Club. Ko has tallied two other top-10 results in her six tournaments ahead of the Mizuho Americas Open, finishing solo sixth at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and tying for sixth at the Ford Championship presented by Wild Horse Pass. She has played in the previous two editions of this tournament, tying for 33rd in 2023 and missing the cut in 2024, two performances she will be trying to improve upon in 2025 at Liberty National Golf Club. According to KPMG Performance Insights, Ko leads the LPGA Tour in scrambling, getting up and down 74.3 percent of the time when she misses a green, and currently ranks inside the top 20 in strokes gained total (9, +1.66), strokes gained around the green (12, +0.47) and strokes gained putting (15, +0.84). The New Zealander is also tied for third in bogey avoidance (10 percent), tied for third in par-5 scoring (4.49), ranked 14th in scoring average (69.80) and tied for 15th in putts per round (28.75).

Ayaka Furue is making her 11th straight start on the LPGA Tour this week, having teed it up in all 10 tournaments so far this season before competing at the Mizuho Americas Open. In those 10 events, Furue has finished in the top 20 six times and earned two top-10 results at the HSBC Women’s World Championship, where she tied for second, and the Blue Bay LPGA, where Furue came in solo third. She finished in the top seven in her previous two appearances at Liberty National Golf Club, tying for fourth in 2023 and tying for seventh in 2024, and will be working to collect her third career LPGA Tour victory at a venue she clearly knows how to score around. Looking at data provided by KPMG Performance Insights, Furue is an elite approach player, posting 48 rounds in which she has hit 16 or more greens in regulation over the last three years on Tour, and she currently ranks 19th in strokes gained total (+1.40) and 23rd in strokes gained putting (+0.70). The Japan native leads the Tour in birdies with 142, is second in sub-par rounds with 25 and is tied for fifth in par-4 scoring average (3.93), additionally ranking third in driving accuracy, hitting the fairway 84.52 percent of the time with her tee shots.

Rose Zhang won the first edition of the Mizuho Americas Open in 2023 in her professional debut and is back to try and do that again at Liberty National Golf Club after having to withdraw from her title defense at this tournament last season. She has been absent from the LPGA Tour since the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards, taking a break to recover from a lingering injury, but Zhang is ready to return to action in Jersey City, N.J., as she pursues a third career LPGA Tour title. This is just her fourth start of the 2025 LPGA Tour season, and in her three previous events, Zhang tied for 10th at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, missed the cut at the Ford Championship presented by Wild Horse Pass after stepping away for a period of the season to continue her studies at Stanford University and then tied for 53rd at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards. Because of her limited starts this year, there isn’t a ton to go on when looking at Zhang’s statistics, but don’t count the 21-year-old out at a venue at which she has won before, particularly considering both of her prior LPGA Tour victories have come in New Jersey, as Zhang earned a win in 2024 at the Founders Cup at Upper Montclair Country Club.
