NAPLES, Fla. — Mexico’s Gaby Lopez both tied the 18-hole tournament scoring record and carded her new career-low round on Moving Day at the CME Group Tour Championship.

The 32-year-old absolutely blitzed Tiburón Golf Club in round three, torching the Gold Course with a bogey-free, 10-under 62 to race up the leaderboard from T37 to 8 with one day remaining at the season finale. Lopez opened her week with rounds of 69 and 73 on Thursday and Friday, respectively, to sit at 2-under total ahead of the weekend in Naples, Fla.

She THEN shot out of the gate on Saturday, picking up a pair of back-to-back birdies on the par-5 1st and par-4 2nd holes to immediately climb to 4-under for the tournament.

The three-time LPGA Tour winner got to 5-under with a birdie on the par-4 4th hole before she rattled off four straight birdies on Nos. 6 through 9 to close out the front nine and turn in 29. That 29 is the lowest nine-hole score for Lopez since the 2017 season, besting her previous benchmark of 30 by one stroke.

But Lopez wasn’t finished just yet, grabbing her eighth birdie of the third round on the par-4 13th hole and then landing two more punches late, wrapping up her 62 with birdies on the par-5 17th and par-4 18th holes at Tiburón to card the lowest round of the week in Naples, Fla. and tie the 18-hole tournament scoring record that was last shot by LPGA Hall of Famer Lydia Ko in the second round of the CME Group Tour Championship in 2016.

“It's one of those days that you are so present in the moment that you stop caring about the result,” Lopez said about her 62. “You actually start being very, very present and enjoying. At the beginning of the round, I told myself I'm going to truly enjoy the weekend because I've worked so hard all year long to be here, so I'm just going to be out there without being strict or rigid.”

This is Lopez’s ninth consecutive start in the CME Group Tour Championship, and in her eight previous appearances at Tiburón Golf Club, she has never finished better than T9, a performance that came back in 2021.

This is her 24th tournament of the 2025 LPGA Tour season, and while she hasn’t found the winner’s circle on the LPGA Tour since 2022, it’s been a solid season for Lopez, who racked up six top-10 results this year, the best and most recent of which is a solo third that she carded last week at The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican.

It’s unlikely that Lopez’s career win tally will be added to this week, as Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul is running away in her title defense at Tiburón Golf Club, currently leading the way at 22-under with 18 holes still to play at the CME Group Tour Championship.

But the 62 she recorded in round three has to have skyrocketed Lopez’s confidence heading into the final tournament round of the year, and the veteran will be working to ride that self-belief even further up the leaderboard as she works to track down her second consecutive top-five finish at the season finale.

“Golf is a crazy sport,” Lopez said. “I think that I just got to give all the credit to my team. They have done unbelievable work with me. They have stuck with me in the lows and the highs. Today is a high, and tomorrow we don't know what's going to happen. But, very proud of all the work we've put in during the year.

“Last year, I missed CME. I was 61st for half a point. Today, I'm standing here with an unbelievable round. I'm just trying to embrace it. I'm trying to enjoy it and be proud of the girl that still is trying to have fun out there.”
