The inaugural Greater Toledo Classic hosted by Stacy Lewis had an eventful start to competition rounds, as Friday morning was filled with weather that pulled athletes from the golf course. The tournament began as scheduled, with the ceremonial tee shot occurring at 7:30 a.m. local time. However, competition only lasted an hour before dangerous weather rolled through and play was suspended at 8:23 a.m. Play resumed at 11:19 a.m., allowing both waves to tee off before darkness approached, once again suspending play at 8:15 p.m. Play resumed at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

Despite the changing weather, amateur Mia Hammond and LPGA Tour Legend, Laura Diaz, were able to take the clubhouse leads in their respective fields before play was suspended due to darkness. Hammond carded a 5-under 66, which was bogey-free, moving her ahead of Yue Ren, who is also in the clubhouse with a 4-under 67. Erika Hara had the round of the day going before play was suspended; however, sitting at 6-under through 14 holes. The Japan native started on the back nine and made the turn with a 6-under 31 while remaining bogey-free. When play resumed, Hara continued her form from yesterday, rolling in one more birdie before the conclusion of her round on the par-3 sixth hole.

The 2025 Epson Tour rookie has yet to miss a cut this season and has racked up six top 10 finishes in that span. The impressive rookie season has Hara in the ninth position in the Race for the Card, and with a win in view after round one, she now has her eyes set on moving up the rankings.

The Legends of the LPGA has a stacked leaderboard at the top, with Laura Diaz leading the way in the clubhouse with a 6-under 65. After starting the day with a bogey, Diaz rolled in seven birdie putts and was bogey-free for the next 17 holes. The closest player to Diaz in the clubhouse is Audra Burks, who turned in a round of 67 to sit two shots behind.

“I have my son, Cooper, on the bag, and he's been caddying for me for a while, but for the last couple of years, pretty consistently, and he is an amazing green reader. So, I can fully rely on that,” explained Diaz.

Round two began at 8:30 a.m. local time, with the afternoon wave scheduled to begin at 1:45 p.m. A cut will be made at the conclusion of the second round, with the top 45 and ties making it to Sunday for the Epson Tour and the top 20 and ties for the Legends of the LPGA.
