BRADENTON, Fla. — Hannah Green was hot on Friday at the Founders Cup presented by U.S. Virgin Islands, firing an almost flawless 6-under 65 to move into a share of seventh on the leaderboard in Bradenton, Fla.

The Australian LPGA Tour winner carded a 1-under 70 on day one at Bradenton Country Club, climbing to 3-under for the tournament after making birdies on the fifth and seventh holes in her first nine of the second round. She then grabbed three birdies in a four-hole stretch from Nos. 10 to 13 to climb to 6-under total, giving one of those strokes back with a bogey on 14.

But Green was undeterred by her mistake, making back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17 to post a 65 and sit at 7-under overall, just a few shots back of the 36-hole lead with two rounds to go.

“The putter was a lot hotter today,” Green said. “I managed to make a good couple of momentum putts for par and also saw some more birdies go in. Felt completely different to yesterday. I felt like I hit the ball better but couldn't quite get the putts in the hole. It was nice to see them fall in today.”

Green is making her second start of the 2025 season after teeing it up last week in the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, an event she had never played in despite having qualified several times before. The 28-year-old finished in a tie for 20th at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club, which was not much of a result to write home about but still served as a good competitive cobweb sweep that helped Green knock off the offseason rust.

This is her first time competing at Bradenton Country Club as the Aussie skipped the LPGA Drive On Championship last year in order to spend some extra time off in her home country. But she has appeared to figure out the intricacies of this venue fairly quickly despite her lack of experience, particularly doing so on the greens, which is where the teeth in this golf course lie, and has shored up some of the shortcomings in her ball-striking that she noticed last week in Orlando.

“The greens are maybe a little bit slower than what we are used to, but I think they're quite undulating and tricky, and that's perhaps why they can't get the speed as quick,” said Green. “I played my practice round, played the pro-am and had good vibes. It's nice the ball striking has been there. Last week at TOC, every day I had something completely different, so I'm hoping to be a bit more consistent this week. Hopefully, all my preparation I did earlier in the week can get me through to Sunday.”

Green will begin the final round five shots back of 36-hole leader Jin Young Ko, who is currently sitting at 12-under for the tournament after carding an 8-under 63 in the second round. But there is still plenty of time to make up that deficit, which is exactly what Green will be trying to do over the weekend at the Founders Cup, hoping to take an aggressive approach in her pursuit of a spot at the top of the leaderboard.

“Make as many birdies as possible. I'm not sure who the leader is and what they finished on, but hopefully, I'm not too far behind, and the weather is kind to us,” said Green of her mindset heading into the final 36 holes. “Hopefully, I can continue what I've been on the last couple of days and have that over the weekend. I'm not sure what the weather looks like, but hopefully, there is no fog and no delay, and we get beautiful sunshine.”
