On the last day of the FM Championship, the soft conditions were ideal for someone to seize an opportunity, and Jin Hee Im did just that in Norton, Mass.

The LPGA Tour sophomore entered Sunday's final round at TPC Boston 13 strokes behind overnight leader, Miranda Wang, and while it seemed unlikely that she would capture the trophy, Im certainly gave it her all trying.

Having already claimed victory earlier this season at the Dow Championship alongside her playing partner Somi Lee, Im was thrilled to learn the impressive 10-under 62 she posted in round four matched the FM Championship's 18-hole tournament scoring record.

The 62 also marked her best 18-hole score on the LPGA Tour, surpassing her previous record of 63, which she shot in the third round of the 2024 JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro.

"It's really awesome. This is my best score in (a) tournament," beamed Im in her post-round press conference. "This is really amazing."

Im had played consistently this week, posting rounds of 68, 71 and 72 to sleep on a three-round total of 5-under par and share 37th at TPC Boston. When asked on Sunday after her record-tying round if she woke up that morning with a different mindset, she laughed and said, "Definitely no, but when I got the first two birdies, I kidding my caddie, I try 18 more birdies, and I made straight three birdies after that."

The 27-year-old started strong, reaching 9-under for the day through 12 holes and showing no signs of slowing down. After parring her next five holes, Im closed her round with a birdie on the par-5 18th hole, finishing with a total of 10 birdies and just 23 putts, missing only three greens throughout the day.

Im's improved putting and greens in regulation percentage were both key factors to her success in her final-round performance. She needed five fewer putts and hit four more greens in regulation in the final round of the FM Championship compared to what she did on days two and three at TPC Boston.

"I got two more birdie chances before, but I already miss it,” Im said about her closing birdie. “Just feel more like try more confidence at the last putt, and that works.”

Looking at her statistical data, the Republic of Korea native was driving the ball a bit farther in the final round than she had been earlier in the tournament, but when she was asked about that increased yardage, Im didn’t think her distance was any longer than normal.

Prior to this week in Massachusetts, Im had recorded four top-five finishes this season, including two T4 results at the Founders Cup presented by U.S. Virgin Islands and the HSBC Women's World Championship, both of which were in February.

She additionally tied for fifth at the ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer in June and secured her first LPGA Tour win at the Dow Championship later that same month. These achievements, along with her recent record-tying performance, have solidified Im's position as a rising star on the LPGA Tour, reminding fans to keep an eye out for her at the top of the leaderboard as 2025 continues to progress.
