Three amateurs earned points in the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway at the Buick LPGA Shanghai, all of whom hail from the People’s Republic of China and were selected by the China Golf Association to compete in the 2025 edition of the tournament.

Ying Xu secured two LEAP points with her top-10 showing at Qizhong Garden Golf Club, a performance that saw the 16-year-old card a four-day total of 16-under to finish in a tie for seventh, the best result by a Chinese amateur in any LPGA Tour event since 1980.

She now has four points in the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway, having picked up her first two points by finishing as the individual medalist at the Women’s World Amateur Team Championship in Singapore on Oct. 4. Xu is now 16 points away from the 20-point threshold required to qualify for LPGA Tour membership.

Shiyuan Zhou earned her first LEAP point after shooting 13-under and tying for 11th in Shanghai, what is the second-best finish by an amateur from the People’s Republic of China in an LPGA Tour tournament since 1980.

The 2025 Buick LPGA Shanghai was her third career start on the LPGA Tour, as Zhou competed in the 2024 edition of the event and the 2025 Blue Bay LPGA, and her tie for 11th is her career-best result in those three appearances.

Menghan Li rounded out the trio of amateurs who captured points in the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway at the Buick LPGA Shanghai, putting her first point on the board with a T40 showing in her home country.

Li was low amateur in the 2024 edition of the tournament, and while she was unable to successfully repeat that performance this year, the 16-year-old impressively bettered her 2024 score by a whopping eight strokes, ultimately finishing at 6-under total.

Li also made the 16th hole-in-one of the LPGA Tour season on Thursday in the first round, dunking her tee shot on the par-3 11th hole at Qizhong Garden Golf Club from 142 yards with an 8-iron.
