EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France — Amateur Lottie Woad has secured her 19th point in the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway with a made cut at The Amundi Evian Championship and is now one point away from becoming the first athlete to qualify for LPGA Tour membership via the new program.

The Englishwoman came to the fourth major championship of the 2025 LPGA Tour season off a victory last week at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open on the Ladies European Tour and kept that momentum rolling in the first round at Evian Resort Golf Club. She posted a 3-under 68 on Thursday, a score that saw her make two bogeys and five birdies, two of which came back-to-back in her opening nine on 14 and 15, and three of which came consecutively on holes six, seven and eight on her back nine.

Starting the second round in a tie for 16th, the 21-year-old dropped a shot on her first hole but quickly recovered with a birdie on the par-3 2nd hole. She parred three and four before making another bogey on the par-3 5th hole, again righting the ship with a birdie on the par-5 7th. Woad then finished off her first nine holes with a third birdie on nine to turn in 34 at 4-under for the tournament.

Woad parred her next four holes, stumbling with another bogey on the par-3 14th hole, but the young talent dug deep coming down the stretch, picking up a birdie on the challenging par-3 16th and nabbing one final birdie on the par-5 18th to polish off a 2-under 69, a score that moved her into a share of 12th and pushed her to 5-under overall in her seventh major championship start.

“It was a bit mixed. It was quite frustrating, to be honest. I was leaving every putt short,” Woad said. “But I was hitting it good, so I knew if I hung in there, there would be some chances at the end with the par 5s. Managed to hit some good shots there. Sixteen was a good (birdie). Tricky pin. Just hit a little 9-iron and holed a nice putt. Had a little break on it.

“And then 18 just hit a great drive. Was between 6- and 7-iron, but obviously went with six because walked it short, so went a bit long. Made a good up and down.”

Woad now has a total of 19 points in the LPGA Elite Amateur Pathway and needs a top-25 (and ties) finish over the weekend in France to meet the 20 points required to qualify for LPGA Tour membership. She will have to turn professional to join the LPGA if that is the path she ultimately chooses to take, and if Woad does so immediately, she will have status for the remainder of the 2025 season and all of 2026. She can also choose to accept membership for just the 2026 season, but Woad will only have status for that calendar year.

However, a top 25 and the spoils that will come with it are concerns for future Lottie to address once she reaches that 20-point threshold. For now, the 21-year-old is just grateful to have the made-cut monkey off her back and to have secured her 19th LEAP point. Now, sitting just five behind leader Somi Lee in a tie for 12th, Woad will also be working toward not just a potential LPGA Tour card, but she’ll also be trying to close the five-shot gap that stands between her and the top of the leaderboard at The Amundi Evian Championship.

“I feel like the first two days usually are a little more stressful. Now, I have guaranteed one point, and I can play a little bit more freely over the weekend and try to get that other one,” Woad said. “I feel like if you focus ahead, it's much easier than if you think top 25. It's quite easy to slip out of that. So, I think I'm only five back. Just trying to play well tomorrow and see what happens.”
